                         chapter 1

As Sophia and Bella stepped into the charming café, the welcoming aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. Miss Cindy, the cafe's owner, greeted them with a warm smile, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "You look happy today, did you finally get yourself a man?" she playfully teased.

Miss Cindy, a motherly figure to Sophia, had witnessed the young woman's struggles over the past two years. Sophia had forgone college due to financial constraints, and her mother's erratic behavior left her no choice but to fend for herself. Sophia's father's untimely demise had left them in dire straits, and she harbored resentment for him for leaving her in such a predicament. However, her life had found some stability in the cafe, thanks to Bella and Miss Cindy.

Sophia chuckled, hugging Miss Cindy tightly. "That's an interesting way to start the day."

With a knowing look, Miss Cindy inquired about Sophia's tardiness. Sophia sighed, "It was another one of those nights. Mom's new boyfriend, Chris, barged in drunk, and she sided with him, as usual. We argued all night, and I retreated to my room as she pounded on my door."

"Poor kid, you're putting up with so much," Miss Cindy sympathized. "You know, you can always move in with me. You're like family."

Sophia declined the offer graciously. "You've given me a job and love; that's more than enough. I want to see how far I can go with this. She can be sweet one moment and a demon the next."

Miss Cindy admired Sophia's resilience, given that she was only 21. "You've got a strong heart, kid," she said with pride.

Meanwhile, as Sophia and Bella busied themselves with kitchen duties, Bella couldn't help but steer the conversation towards a more exciting topic. "So, are you attending Macro's party tonight?"

Sophia hesitated, her thoughts a whirlwind. "I'm not sure yet."

Bella, always the persuasive one, leaned in with a sly grin. "Come on, Sophia. You know I can't go without you, and it's Macro's party! I've had a crush on him forever. Who knows what might happen? I might even get the chance to see what's under those hot pants"

Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Are you that eager, my friend?"

Bella's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Trust me, this is different. We'll get married in Paris, have beautiful babies, honeymoon in Venice, and I'll finally get my favorite dog and name her after you."

Sophia couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, okay, I've heard enough. I'm going."

Bella rejoiced. "Yes!"

But Sophia had one condition. "Not so fast, young lady. I'll go on one condition."

Bella was intrigued. "Tell me, any condition. Even if it's getting you Justin Bieber to go with you."

Sophia smirked. "I'll choose my own dress, and you, my dear friend, must promise not to drool all over Macro."

Bella grinned, assuring her, "Don't worry, he won't see my drool because it's a masquerade party. You might even be Cinderella for a day, dancing with a stranger and losing your shoe."

Sophia couldn't help but find the idea intriguing. It seemed that tonight, their lives would take an exciting turn, filled with mystery, romance, and a touch of magic.
