Ch 8: Calvary Battle

“You want me on your team?” Akira asked, surprised. “Why?”

“Because your quirk is useful for what I have planned.” Todoroki said. “Is that really all that surprising? You are one of the most powerful in class.”

“Yea but I just didn't think you would want me of all people,” Akira said thinking about the fact that she was outed recently and he had not said any sign of support. Though he also had never shown any negative signs either yet. Also people weren't exactly lining up to have her on their team. 

“If you are referring to your gender,” Todoroki said. “Gender really doesn't matter all that much to me. You are who you are. If you say you're a girl then you are.” He shrugged. “Who am I to tell anyone who or what they are.”

“You know Todoroki,” Akira smiled. “You come off as an arrogant Asshat at times, but you're actually a really good guy.” She nodded. “Alright I will join your team. Who else did you have in mind?”

Todoroki was their rider. Tenya Iida was their front horse. Akira was on the right and Momo Yaoyorozu was on the left. Yaoyorozu had used her quirk to make both Akira and herself skates that they were wearing. With all their scores together, their point value was 700. They already had an impressive score and would most likely make it through as long as they hung onto their points. But Todoroki wanted to go after Midoirya and the Ten Million he got from coming in first. 

Soon the battle began. “Todoroki I think we should hang back and let some of the others wear out Midoirya’s team first.” Akira said. “We already have a high score, so we don't have to stress to much.”

“We arent going to wait,” Todoroki said. “Iida lets go.”

“right.” Iida said. “Hang on and keep up girls.” Akira shook her head but smiled. This was going to be fun. 

A lot of teams were after Midoiriya’s team which held Uraraka, Tokoyami, and some other girl Akira didn't recognize. Bakugou’s team, Kirishima, Sero, and Ahido, were gunning hard for Midoirya. Though Midoirya’s team suddenly shot up into the sky. 

“We will get them later,” Todoroki said. “Yamada.” He called out. 

“Right.” Akira smiled and took a breath. She sang out the word “Freeze” and all the teams froze for a few seconds. Todoroki sent a wave of ice to freeze some  teams around them to the floor. With Iida’s speed they ran around stealing all their headbands. They quickly rose in the ranks to second place without a doubt. It would be hard for anyone to beat them without Midoriya’s  headband. 

Akira noticed Midoirya’s team back on the ground and this time with a broken boot. “Todoroki, I don't think Midoirya can  get in the air anymore.”

“Then its time,” Todoroki said. “Lets go Iida.” They chased after Midoirya’s team to a less populated area of the playing field and Todoroki threw up a an ice wall to seperate the two teams  from everyone else.  Both teams are facing off trying to come up with something to counter the other. 

One more minute.

“Everyone,” Iida said. “there's less than a minute left. You won't be able to use me after this.”

“I'm counting on you!” Todoroki said. 

“iida?” Akira sked curiously.  

“Hang on tight.” Iida said. “Make sure you get it, Todoroki. Torque Over! Reciproburst!” Suddenly they shot forward at incredible speed and Todoroki managed to swipe the Ten Million headband. 

“Wha!” Someone yelled. 

“What happened? So fast! So fast!” Midoirya said. 

“What was that?” Akira asked. 

“By forcing the torque and rotations to increase,” Iida explained.  “I created an explosive power. With the recoil, my engine stalls after a while, though. It's a secret move I hadn't told anyone in class yet. I told you, didn't I, Midoriya? That I'd challenge you.” Akira smirked and gave Iida’s shoulder a light squeeze. 

“That was awesome Iida,” Akira said. 

Offense and defense right at the edge!

“Reining that in, Todoroki gets the ten million!” Hizasih’s voice could be heard announcing.  “And Midoriya is suddenly left with zero points!”

“We'll get it back, Deku! We definitely will!” Uraraka yelled. They came running forward on the left side. Akira noticed Dark Shadow coming up and sang out to return. She thought he may have swiped something but she wasnt sure because suddenly Todoroki’s left side lit on fire.  Deku managed to take a headband from around Todokri’s neck but it wasn't the ten million. 

The battle ended and they let Todoroki down. “Way to go everyone. We did it.” Akira smiled.

“We did it together.” Iida said. 

Soon they were announced as having taken first place. 

Bakugou’s team came in second. 

Akira’s scowled when Team Shinso was announced Third. Of course he got through. 

Surprisingly, Midoirya’s team was announced in fourth place.  

“They still managed to get  in,” Akira smiled. They were still her friends too, even if this was a competition.  

They were released to take an hour lunch and suddenly todoroki was gone. She wondered where he went. “Yamada, are you coming?” Iida called out to her. 

“Oh yea.” Akira said as she ran to catch up.
