𝒀/𝒏'𝒔 𝑷𝑶𝑽:

"Who can tell us the name of this beauty?" Ms. Thornhill asked the class as she touched the plant.

Bianca raised her hand from her spot quickly but before Ms. Thornhill could pick her Wednesday interrupted.

"Dendrophylax Lindenii." Wednesday said answering the question without raising his hand.

"Otherwise known as the ghost orchid," Bianca said lowering her hand back to her spot and glancing at me from beside her.

Here we go with the two smart aleck's going head to head. Bianca always wants to one-up someone and Wednesday truly will never back down a challenge. - I thought as I continued to draw in my sketchbook.

"First discovered on the Isle of Wight in 1854," Wednesday said.

Bianca turned to Wednesday with shocked eyes and a frown. Ms. Thornhill smiled at Wednesday's knowledge.

"Very good, Wednesday. You may have competition for first chair, Bianca." Ms. Thornhill said.

Students oohed and snickered at Ms. Thornhill's words. Bianca clenches her jaw and makes a fake smile for a few minutes.

"Looks like he's giving you a run for your money," I whisper to Bianca.

Bianca grimaces and shakes her head in disbelief.

"He's not much competition anyways," Bianca whispered with her head still held high not taking a glance at me.

"Wednesday, perhaps you can identify the ghost orchid's greatest qualities." Ms. Thornhill said.

"Resilience and adaptability. It's able to thrive in even the most hostile environments." Wednesday said quickly.

"But, its mere presence can change the ecosystem, causing the established plants to reject it." Bianca also adds in.

Xavier and I laugh at the quarrel both students are having. Wednesday turns toward Bianca quickly and begins to answer after her.

"Usually because the native species is allowed to thrive unchecked. " Wednesday said.

We all turned from Wednesday back to Bianca after each of them going back and forth with each other both of them wanting to be the one in the right and the last to speak.

"Nothing a weed wacker couldn't fix," Wednesday said staring intensely into Bianca's powder blue eyes.

"you can most certainly try," Bianca said sarcastically.

"Are we still talking about flowers??" Xavier asked confused.

Students laughed at the scene that just happened. Wednesday and Bianca stared into each other's souls not wavering until Ms. Thornhill caught the attention of the class.
