EMMA
The after-party was intense. Emma had already changed into a short, silver dress that clung to her body and accentuated her waist, which made her feel even more confident.
Even though she was still extremely hungover, the party here made her forget about that. There were delicious drinks and colorful shots and everyone was having way too much fun.
"Emma another one!" Jennifer Lawrence shouted over the blaring music.
"As if four shots in less than ten minutes isn't enough." Emma laughed as she took another shot glass from the bartenders.
"It's never enough." Jen responded while clinking their glasses together and downing another one, the burning sensation hitting the back of her throat. Worriedly enough, the alcohol was already making her a bit more light-headed.
"Listen Jen I'm going to the loo, I'll be right back," Emma said as she put down the shot glass in the nearest table, and grabbed her gin as well.
"You want me to go with you?" Jen asked as she put a hand on Emma's shoulder.
"No don't worry, I'll be here in 2 minutes tops." Emma turned around and started heading towards the bathroom, which she really didn't need to use, she just needed a moment to breathe and get some fresh air.
There were way too many people, it was extremely crowded and dark with only a few colored lights dimmed through the room. Normally this would totally be Emma's scene, but there had been way too much going on today, and she was kind of tired.
Emma started walking towards the small terrace/balcony, slithering her way through the big crowd until she felt someone grab her wrist and turn her around. Emma's eyes widened and immediately panicked when she saw Ben Affleck, her ex. "Emma, what a great surprise."
"Ben, let go of me," Emma tried to squirm her wrist out of his grip, but this made him do the opposite, tightening his grip onto her even more. "You in a rush? What's wrong? Long time no see, Em."
"Ben, I really can't talk right now, maybe another time though-" He pulled Emma closer to him, and she immediately started looking around her.
In reality, she was scared to even look at him, but she was also in need for help or anyone to notice anything, but lost her hope once she noticed everyone was too preoccupied on their own business.
"You never answer my calls Em, never want to meet me. I thought we were past this." Ben gave Emma his best puppy dog eyes, but of course, she knew better than this. One thing Emma had learned over the few years that they were together, was to play it easy with him to avoid messes.
"I know I just-," Emma still tried to get herself out of his grip, until she saw her award presenter make his way towards her, taking a quick glance at Emma's wrist that Ben was still holding on to, but dropped it immediately as Tommy arrived and took notice of this.
