EMMA

Four days had elapsed since the night at Cillian's place, and there had been absolutely no word from him since. Not a sign of life from him— well, up until this morning, she had received a small bouquet of white lilies, congratulating her on her birthday— but no call, not even a text.

Emma sat in front of the mirror, her reflection adorned in the golden-sequined dress she had chosen for the occasion. It accentuated her waist perfectly, hugging her body in all the right places. Kate, Mario, and her team of stylists surrounded her, creating a buzz of excitement and nervous anticipation in the air.

The atmosphere in the room was charged with the energy of the impending celebration, yet a cloud of unease lingered over Emma. The lack of contact from Cillian weighed on her mind, and she couldn't shake the constant anxiety about where they stood.

Kate, as always, had been trying to ease Emma's nerves. "Emma, you look absolutely stunning. Cillian won't be able to resist."

Mario chimed in, adjusting a strand of her hair with precision. "Seriously, Em, you're radiant. He won't be able to take his eyes off you."

"Or hands." Kate said, adding to Mario's comment while they both laughed, "I swear Em. Your boobs are looking better than ever."

"I don't even know if he's gonna show up, guys." Emma said as spritzed her perfume all around her body. Her fiery orange hair matching perfectly with her golden-smokey makeup, it made her green eyes pop even more than usual.

"Of course he's gonna show up, Emma. He told you he would." Kate said while fixing her hair in the mirror as well, "I mean, his 'no contact' is pretty normal. I would want to give you your space too after what you said to him."

Mario chuckled softly and agreed while helping Kate with the last touches in her makeup.

"You're right. I was an arse." Emma said as she turned around and other stylist helped her put her heels on.

Kate shook her head, "You weren't an arse. I mean— not really." She paused and looked at her through the reflection in the mirror, "Kind of?"

Emma laughed but her heart still weighed. Despite their reassurances, Emma's thoughts were not at all positive. The uncertainty gnawed at her, making it difficult to fully embrace the excitement of her birthday.

Kate, sensing Emma's inner turmoil, placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Look, Cillian will be there tonight, and I'm sure everything will work out. Just enjoy your party, and we'll deal with whatever comes after."

They finished getting ready quickly and left for the party. Luckily there were already lots of people there, so she would be very entertained.

The party venue buzzed with activity. Kate had booked an entire rooftop and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The drinks were amazing. However, doubt crept into her mind again. Would Cillian show up? Had Emma's unstable behaviour scared Cillian off?
