The Assassin (SAOxOC)

The Salamanders

        I've been playing ALO for a few days now. My skills are leveling faster here than they ever did in SAO. This game is surprisingly fun. The flight is satisfying and I don't feel anything when I kill a player since I know they won't really die. 

I finally got an Assassination request after like 3 days of me advertising myself in taverns and city squares. The request came from a Sylph named Leafa. I'm supposed to meet her at a tavern in Sylvaine, which is where I am right now. I'm just waiting for her, with a drink.

"Come on!" A girl yelled from outside, the door to the tavern opened and in came two people. A girl with blonde hair wearing green, and a boy with black hair wearing all black. "Stop pulling me." "Sorry but I am meeting someone. You should meet him too!" "Who is it?" "He's an Assassin for hire. Goes by the name K." "K...interesting. I wanna meet this guy." After eavesdropping on their entire conversation I intervened. "Well that's me. Nice to meet you. I'm K." "I'm Leafa! And this quiet guy is Kirito." 'Kirito huh. Wonder if it's the same one' I thought as we examined each other.

"It really is you. Isn't it K?" "Yeah. Been a while, Kirito." "Yeah." It fell to silence, both of us not really knowing what to say to each other. We hadn't spoken since he died in SAO. "You two know each other?" "Yeah, we're...old friends." Kirito said as I realized he didn't want to mention SAO "yeah, old friends. We went through a lot together." "I see. Well that makes this easier." "Well? Who's the target?" "A Salamander named Eugene. He kind of runs the Salamanders Army, it'll be hard but they need to get what's coming to them."

"I'll do it. As long as you pay well enough for this mission." "Of course. 200,000 Yrd." She proposed as my eyes went wide, 'I've never been offered that much money, even in SAO.' "Deal." I said as she squealed happily. 'This must mean a lot to her. But who is she, Kirito?' "Hey Leafa. Can I talk to K alone for a minute? Please?" "Ok. I'll be over there!" Leafa said, walking away.

"Why are you here?" Kirito asked me, making me confused "What? I needed a new game to play. I got pretty bored after SAO was cleared. Why are you here?" "Agil sent me a picture online that a player took. It was a picture of a cage on a branch of the world tree. I think that's the reason Asuna hasn't woken up yet because of that picture.I think someone is keeping her here. And I think I know who it is too." "I'll help you where I can but I think this mission is for you to handle, not both of us." "Thank you, K." "Of course, Kirito. You and Asuna helped me a lot in SAO. I owe you guys my life after all." That seemed to satisfy Kirito so he walked back over to Leafa and they got a room where they got off for the night.

"Time to get info on this Eugene." I walked around Sylvaine to get information. I learned that he wields a magic sword called "The Demon Sword Graham" , a sword that needs a magic level of 950 to wield, and that even without that sword he's still a very formidable fighter. He leads the Salamander attack force. While searching for more info I came across a group of Sylphs that were talking to someone. Someone I couldn't see. Normally I wouldn't care about this but they mentioned the name Eugene.

I eavesdropped on the conversation, learning that Eugene is planning to attack The Sylph's and Cait Sith at their alliance meeting. Now I just need the time and place of that meeting. After a very long time searching and asking around I came across a young Sylph boy by the name of Rekon who somehow knew the information I was looking for. "I'll tell you where the meeting is for a g-good p-price!" He stuttered, I transferred over 10k yrd and he started talking. I made my way towards the place of the meeting after learning it was happening tomorrow at noon.

I decided to camp out around 20 miles away, knowing I could get there fast if needed. After waiting for a few hours I saw a group of Sylph players fly over me, 'Must be the Sylph Ambassador.' I decided to tail them, keeping myself as hidden as possible. When they reached the meeting spot the Cait Sith were already there, and the meeting commenced. They started talking about a bunch of boring shit, such as shared currency and shared fire power. I wasn't really paying attention but I'm pretty sure that's what they talked about.

All of a sudden just as the two Ambassadors were about to shake on the deal I sensed a large group of players nearby. It didn't take long for them to come into view either. A large army of players wearing red armor. 'They're here.' I moved from my hiding spot and slowly got closer. I wanted to eavesdrop on what they were gonna say but I wasn't able to when I saw Leafa appear next to the Sylph ambassador and a few seconds later Kirito came crashing in from the sky.

I quickly flew towards Leafa and the two ambassadors. Their guards attacked me but luckily Leafa covered for me "Don't worry you guys! He's an accomplice of mine. I hired him to kill Eugene." "You think he can?" The Sylph ambassador remarked, eyeing me up and down. "Yes. He is a very well known Assassin after all. He is very good at what he does." "I see. And what is this "Assassins" name?" "K." "Really? You hired him?!" The Cait Sith ambassador said shocked. "Do you know him, Alicia?" "You don't?! He started just 3 days ago and he has already killed some of the top players in the game!"

I just stood there silently listening while Kirito approached us. "K, this fights all yours. Leafa is paying you after all." He said, I looked up and saw Eugene staring at me, with his sword drawn. "So that's the Demon Sword huh? Let's see if it's as good as everyone says it is." I blitzed toward Eugene landing a kick to his side sending him a few feet away. "You are fast, Imp." He said acid lacing his tongue. "Your slow Salamander." I rebutted angering him slightly as his brow twitched and he swung his sword at me

I dodged under it and slashed towards his legs attempting to cut them off but he lifted them, dodging the attack. He countered with a down slam which I went to block but was unsuccessful as his sword phased through mine. "So that's why they call it "Demon Sword" huh?" "Yeah, the sword comes with a unique skill called [Ethereal Shift] allowing it to pass through solid objects. You can not block my sword." "Fine, guess I'll just have to dodge it then." I dashed toward him slamming my blade against his

His arm moved back when my blade hit his but he kept his composure and pushed me off attempting to slice through my face. I managed to dodge his slash and countered with my own, making a gash across his face, across his mouth. He groaned at the pain, but of course he recovered quickly activating a sword skill attempting to slice my torso in half, luckily enough for me he didn't use [Ethereal Shift] so I could block it. Though the attack sent me flying away. I was at least 3 miles from where we were so I recovered as fast as I could and made my way back to Eugene.

He apparently thought he got me with that attack since he had his back turned when I got back. Taking this advantage into account I charged the sword skill [Horizontal Square] and slashed him 4 times in the back, landing each hit. Ending Eugene's life. After Eugene died all of the Salamanders retreated, their morale at an all time low. I flew back down to the Sylph's, Cait Sith, and Kirito. "Good job K." Kirito complimented "Yeah good job! Though I knew you'd win!" Alicia said. Leafa looked at me surprised but overall glad I could win the fight and quickly transferred the 200k yrd to me.

I was now 200k yrd richer, and I got to head to the city of Alne, the center of Alfheim Online. A city which sits just below the World Tree which is apparently Kirito's goal. I separated from them once we got there and went to a tavern where I got some food and drinks, before I bought a room and logged off. When I woke up I was laying on my bed in my dark, and now cold room. I got up and opened my door entering the rest of my single bedroom apartment and made dinner for myself turning on the T.V. To relax and eat before going to bed.
