"Heads up!" Road Sign yelled before throwing the football in her hand towards Fart. He stumbled backwards and flipped upside down. He was a lucky duck to have caught that ball. Perfectly in-between his heels. He sighed and threw the ball back, not thinking anything of it.
Hours later, the sun is about to die. The two looked at it on the bleachers next to the football field. Fart watched the sun and Road Sign looked at the grass, the neatly painted and cut grass with foot prints all over it. She looked at Fart, who was spaced out, and gave him a small punch on his thigh.
He blinked and looked at her. She smiled and said, "How about one more game?" Fart smiled and nodded, almost immediately getting up off the bleachers and starting to work his way down the steps. Road Sign giggled and followed behind with the football.
While the two were playing, Fart had caught the ball with his heels again, this time his grip was worse. He tried planning how to get out of the situation but him and Road Sign are fucking pea brains so Fart ended up dropping the ball on his shin, splitting him in half. A faint shadow of a familiar face appeared, and the wind blew him away.
Road Sign was shocked. She had only seen Fart die once. That was rare. She gulped and brushed it aside as she walked to the recovery center, sure he would recover. Right?
When she got there, all that was left were two axes in the ground. Little pieces of rusted metal and dried brown bits of blood. Holy shit. She walked over and pulled out an axe. A prickle from Cactus poked her. She shook her hand and looked down at the area, it was already red and swollen. She pulled the prickle out and her eyes widened. Fart was gone for good.
She felt tears fall down her face. Slowly. She walked over to Mint's memorial bench and sat down, breathing heavily. She couldn't take it all in. Her best friend was dead. She cried, letting each tear roam free. He felt the cold breeze she felt when she saw the face. She looked up, and saw another familiar face in front of her.
