"Something I can help you with?" You said slowly."You look like you got a few bruises from today" He muttered his fingers tracing over small grazes.
You nodded slowly with a hum of awareness. He stepped back as if suddenly aware of the contact. He cleared his throat and glanced back at the door before turning back towards you with a dismissive nod. He silently left the room, closing the door behind him.
You watch as he left, wondering if that's all he wanted to say. You shrug it off nonetheless and have a hot bath, it's relaxing in some sense. If only your mind would calm down, stop trying to fling itself off in directions you didn't need it to go. You got out, wrapped in the towel.
You made your way out of the bathroom to sit on the bed and stare into nothing for 10 minutes as you always seemed to do. You sat down, zoning out comfortably while focused on a spot on the floor. After a moment you stood up, walking to your closet and debating with yourself whether you get pajamas on or get dressed once more.
It was late, surely you weren't going anywhere. You decided for it, since it wasn't like your pajamas were actually pajamas and more just clothes thrown together.
You came down the stairs, yawning gently as you ignored the ache in your thighs. You met with the team in the open area. Price stood doing the dishes while Soap and Ghost stood around the counter talking with him. You flopped over the back of the couch, pulling yourself over until you fell onto your back lying down.
"Rookie" Price said. You sat up, looking over at the three.
"Hm?" You hummed, getting back up and walking over. They all glanced at each other, and you got the sense something was going to happen that you didn't agree with.
"Whose telling?" Soap said which earned a smack with the tea towel from Price.
"Tell me what?" You asked standing up straight as you narrowed your eyes.
"It's nothing Rook" Price said, drying his hands off.
"Well, it is ..." He added after a moment. "But nothing bad"
"So, what is it? Did someone die?" You asked flat out, getting straight to the point. Soap chuckled and shook his head.
"No Rookie" he assured.
"Just an upcoming addition mission" Price inserted. You nodded slowly as if you understood.
"I don't understand."
"Just go sit down and I'll fill you in" Price said. You nodded, at least you'd be included right. You make your way to the sofa, sitting down while you fiddled with your hands. The team came and sat around you a few moments later are hushed whispers in the kitchen.
"We need you for a mission" Price announced with minimal hand gestures.
"What mission?" You asked, quick to get to the point.
"An undercover mission" Soap said.
"As?" You wasted no time, wanting your answers so the tension could be brushed away.
"A high school student"
You sucked in through your teeth and flopped against the back of the sofa while you shook your head. "No"
"I'm afraid you don't have that choice Rookie" Price said sternly.
You grunted, furrowing your brows in annoyance as you looked away with a slight scowl.
"Why?" You asked folding your arms.
"The enemy team has a specific target in the area. We've just figured this target - who we'll call twelve, has a kid. This kid goes to the local high school here and after a lot of decoding we've figured that this kid has now come to the enemy's interest. Whether it be intel, blackmail or something else.
