You look back at Kendrick and flip your mic down as does he. "Follow me, keep to the walls" you say.
"Understood" he says his English accent deep as he steadies the fear that lingers on his words. You cross the hallway, shooting an unsuspecting enemy. You hear a slight whistle through the comms from Kendrick and smile as you move forwards.
You kick open the double doors with force. They slam against the walls and a spiraling staircase is revealed. Echoing the sounds of the doors connecting with the walls.
You can hear Kendrick mumbling to himself over the comms trying to calm his breathing. You move forwards in a crouched walk, gun raised.
You peer over the edge with your gun aimed down. The stairs are clear. You turn and motion to Kendrick who steps closer. "Okay okay just follow" He mutters.
Your head snaps back as you gun raises. You could've sworn you seen someone passing the hallway. You crouch down, fastening a claymore at the door. You set it up with a slight beep. You motion Kendrick to follow you.
You press against the cold stairwell walls, stepping down silently with Kendrick following. You peek with your sights before turning any corners. You look up at him and offer him a smile, fake as they might be it seems to calm him slightly.
Letting him know that he's not alone with your familiar presence protecting him as you move along.
You reach to point and meet with the team, discussing a plan quickly. You split into your designated directions and your eyes follow your watch as the hands tick.
When it hits the planned time, you push open the double doors slowly. On the other side is a surprisingly large room. The roof is raised high, the floors scattered with crates of wrapped packages and large shipping containers provide sense of cover.
The room is lined with steel platforms. You step into the room with your knees bent and gun raised. The silence adding tension. A beeping makes you freeze.
You look around frantically for the beeping. Dim lights start to flicker, and the room lights up hardly. Gunshots sound close to you, and you grab Kendrick.
You drag him with you, pushing him behind a tower stack of crates. He misses his step and falls on his ass behind the cover. "Shit shit shit" you hear him muttering over the mic.
You drop onto your knees in front of him and the narrow crates. Gunfire is away and your team has entered at different points around the room.
You lean over Kendrick and peek your gun through a gap, ducking down quickly as a bullets fly over your head. "Hoooly shit okay" you hear Kendrick saying, talking to himself in attempt to provide some comfort and keep himself in the present.
You look out, shooting enemies before darting across behind other cover. You almost jump out of your skin at Kendrick following you. You assumed he'd stay where he was.
You sit up, shooting over the crates before ducking back down with a huff. You caught sight of price handling those on the platforms above.
You tap Kendrick and point before he nods. You get up, keeping your head low as you rush behind a large shipping container. "How are you holding?" You ask pulling your mic down.
He gives you a thumbs up and a breathless 'yes' in reply. You nod, patting his shoulder. You look above you, hidden underneath one of the upper platforms.
You can hear boots on the steel rushing back and forth. You jump, grabbing the top of the shipping container and pulling yourself up. You make the small jump onto the platform.
