You sighed, a heavy sigh as you leaned against Ghosts side. "Rookie, your legs can carry your own weight." Ghost said, glancing down at you.
You replied with a shrug "I don't think I can take much more of this." you muttered, shaking your head with a huffed exhale.
"Its been three minutes sweetheart." Ghost chuckled, unfolding one of his arms to wrap around your waist.
"Three minutes too long." you groaned, hearing his airy laugh in return that made your lips upturn into a smile of your own.
"You poor thing." he said back, giving you an attempted sympathetic look that only made your grin widen.
You had been set to supervise both Ella and Liv while on the training course. A new mandatory daily activity for them to do for numerous reasons, knowing they would be able to protect themselves if it came down to it, bringing comfort to Laswell.
You watched as Ella went along mindless, finding that swinging on the rope was more fun than advancing on the course. She whistled a tune, acting like some carefree princess and it annoyed you.
Something you couldn't figure out. The world wasn't easy and happy to live in and she went along, whistling those irritating little tunes like it was all sunshine and rainbows.
"Stupidity is bliss" you muttered to yourself, squinting away from the suns glare.
"Wouldn't it be ignorance is bliss?" Ghost replied, somehow hearing your low mumbled whisper.
You turned your head to him, raising a hand above your eyes like a shield. "Same, difference." you replied with a slight shrug, turning back to face out towards the course.
You got no reply, but seen his eyes shift after watching you for a second more.
Time felt slow, despite it being only 43 seconds it had felt like 18 minutes. With another glance at your watch and slow sigh, Ghost gave an amused hum before dropping his arm from around your waist.
"Do a lap" he said, fixing his stance and crossing his arms as you turned to face him.
"What? - no" you said, raising an eyebrow.
"You're restless" he says.
"I would've thought you'd know more than anyone sir that there's no time for relaxation here" you replied, fixing your own posture as you shook your head after continued silence for his answer.
"Seriously?" you muttered, with a sigh of defeat. "Do you know how hot it is right now?" you said with a groan, fanning your face.
"I'm well aware of the weather rook." Ghost replied, leaning down towards you with a slow voice that indicated a small smirk playing upon his lips. "And I'm aware of how good you look all hot and bothered"
He stood back to his full height and nodded towards the field with an obvious grin underneath his balaclava. "C'mon soldier, ignore the heat."
"Fine but I'm making a complaint box just to complain about you." You said with a glare and a stern shaming finger point that you jabbed at his vest.
He chuckled lowly, grabbing your finger within his palm and wrapping his own around yours. "Just say you want to write me love letters." he teased as you snatched your finger back with a huff.
"One lap?" you asked, scanning the field for a clear view of the lap you'll run.
"Just one." Ghost confirmed. You went to start with a jog, halted by a sudden pull on your vest strap. You turned, looking up at Ghost waiting to see what he wanted.
