Peter

Running across the field with the ball as the rival team sprinted after me trying to catch me and I couldn't help smiling as I scored before being tackled, groaning as I stood back up as it was never fun being tackled. Sighing as I walked off to the benches when the break was called as I grabbed my phone and looked to see if Luke had replied to any my messages asking if he was okay or wanted to talk but he always left it on read and Sam's words flash through my mind.

"He doesn't ask for help... just isolated himself from everyone and drowns in liquor"

"You alright?" Oliver asked as he came over.

"Yeah just... trying to talk to some dude" I sighed as I put my phone away, the game went on and we ended up winning as I carried my bag over my shoulder but instead of going straight to home I sat down on the bleachers while looking over the empty field as it was dark, seeing a figure before Luke appeared as he came up the steps and sat down beside me and I didn't speak up or question why he hadn't been answering me as we sat in silence, he moved slightly closer and rested his head onto my shoulder and I noticed he wore my hoodie making me wonder if he missed me as much as I missed him.

"How you been doing?" I muttered but I knew by his messed up hair and eye bags he wasn't doing good.

"Bad... it's been hard to sleep, get nightmares about it every time I do..." he mumbled and I knew it felt my hell to not be able to sleep as it happened for me but with my birth parents.

"How's Lily?" I asked.

"She's been staying with me and Sam, Sam mostly takes care of her..." he explained as he leaned more into my side but I didn't go to wrap my arm around him knowing it might make him retreat, "I'm so sorry Peter..."

"I know... your scared to let yourself trust someone on that level, especially after..." I trailed off, "if you ever want to talk about it, just ask..."

"I feel like he's always watching me even though he's not..." he muttered, "like if I let my guard down he'll be able to hurt me again or take me"

"Is it because when you let your guard down before you got hurt?" I asked and he nodded.

"Ever single time..." he whispered and I heard his voice break, "can you please hold me..."

Wrapping my arm around him as I brought him closer as he buried his head into my chest as he had a jitter to his hands as he cried softly, as if he was too tired to cry any louder or that he had already lost all of his tears. Kissing the top of his head as I tightened my arms around him and I only loosened it when he calmed down, he soon moved back so he was leaning into me instead as I kept my arm around him as he wiped his face of the tears.

"Can I stay at yours... or at least you come to mine..." he asked quietly, "I just... Sam's not gonna be home and I don't wanna be there alone... since he's taking Lily out for dinner with Emily since she's been upset since I've haven't been talking to her.."

"Yeah, of course" I reassured him, "how about we go get ice cream?"

"Okay..." he mumbled, not against it but not Interested either, standing up as he followed me to my car as I sent him a smile while getting in but he had this numb and blank look to him, almost distant.

He sighed as he stared down at his phone, "you alright?"

"Sam is just saying how I need to actually be a brother and talk to Lily..." he muttered.

"Well fuck Sam, if he can't understand that your seriously hurt than he fucking stupid" I huffed before smiling as I turned the radio on, "do you want to choose the music"

"Nah" he shook his head and I grinned as we stopped at a red light as I typed on the screen.

"Fine, I'll put Taylor swift on than" I grinned.

"Seriously?" He spoke unimpressed as I turned up the volume so he couldn't complain as blank space started playing.

"Come on sing!" I chuckled, "So it's gonna be forever Or it's gonna go down in flames, You can tell me when it's over, mm, yeah! Come on luk!"

"If the high was worth the pain, Got a long list of ex-lovers They'll tell you I'm insane 'Cause you know I love the players And you love the game" he spoke blankly in attempt to satisfy me.

Laughing softly as we pulled into the parking spot, "thank God.."

"What is my singing that terrible?" I spoke dramatically.

"Yes. Yes it is" he nodded as we walked into the ice cream store.

"Should we get a tub to chill and eat at your place or an ice cream now" I questioned as I looked at the options.

"Well I'm getting a tub regardless" he shrugged as he ordered a tub of said cookie and cream ice cream as I ordered him a cone with me getting strawberry and vanilla.

"That is the most boring combination I've ever heard" he stated as he held the bag on his arm as I handed him his ice cream cone.

"It is not, how dare you" I stated with a dramatic scoff as we sat down outside on a bench.

"It is" he hummed as he leaned into my side as I naturally draped my arm over shoulders making him tense but he relax, as if he was reminding himself who I was.

"Fine let me try yours" I reasoned as I leaned over and liked it, "fuck that is good, can we trade?"

"No, you chose your boring flavour" he glared, "be glad I let you lick it"

"You have a whole tub" I frowned.

"Too bad" he shrugged.

"So mean to me" I grumbled making him smile slightly.

"You deserve it" he grinned and I felt my heart warm at the sight.

"You rob me of my happiness" I stated dramatically.

"And you robbed me for my heart so we're even" he smiled.

"So you do like me?" I beamed.

He fixed his posture, tense, "yeah but... I'm not.. uh I'm not ready for a real relationship..."

"I know... I'll happily wait" I smiled as I rubbed his shoulder with my free hand and he slowly relaxed back into me.

"This is nice though..."
