It was a Tuesday morning on a summer day in the city of Los Angeles. Victoria Alejandra Ortiz layed in her bed, a blanket wrapped tightly around her body. The sun was beginning to peek in through her curtains, making her room become brighter. Her phone, which was on her nightstand, lit up and an alarm began playing through the room. The girl simply rolled over and turned off the alarm before laying back down and continuing her sleep.

Out in the main area of the apartment were her parents. Samantha Isabelle Ortiz was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for her and her husband and her two kids. The Mexican woman maneuvered through the kitchen swiftly, placing food in three plates and filling up two cups of coffee and two with orange juice. Christopher Moises Ortiz came into the kitchen, already dressed for his day at the office. He worked as an architect in a architecture firm while Samantha worked as a freelance interior designer. He places a kiss on her cheek and smiles down at her. She hands him a plate of food and a coffee mug. He takes them and heads to sit on the dinner table.

"Thank you mi amor." He says, a puerto rican accent coming out slightly.

"You're welcome love." Samantha replies and places down her plate, her daughters, and her sons.

"Where's Victoria, doesn't she go into work at 9 today?" Chris asked as he takes a look at the watch on his wrist.

"She does but you know how she is, always waking up and leaving super last minute. Esta nena nunca va a aprender, let me go wake her up." Samantha exclaimed and leaves the kitchen and heads down the hallway, to her daughters room. She knocks a few times, hearing a groan in response.

"Victoria you need to get up right now so you can have breakfast and leave for work at a reasonable time." She says and presses her ear against the door. Not hearing a response or movement she opens the door and walks into the room.

"Wake up my love. You have work remember." Her daughter stirs slightly before opening her eyes. Her hazel eyes meet her mother's brown ones.

"Why did I agree to taking up more shifts, morning ones at that." Victoria mumbled and stretches her muscles out.

"Because it's summer and you wanted to make more money." Samantha reminded her and runs her fingers through her daughters mess of a hair. Victoria closes her eyes in contentment and lets her mother keep playing with her hair.

"Now get up or you are going to be late. I don't know why you set an alarm if you don't even get up when it goes off." She demanded and yanks the blankets off her daughter's body.

"Ay mami, ya voy." The teenager groaned and gets up to get ready for work. She works in a small cafe a few minutes away from their apartment.

"Your food is going to get cold hurry up." Samantha urges her again before giving her daughter a stern look and walking out of the room, closing the door behind her. Victoria chuckles at her mom before heading to her closet to pick out an outfit for today's 6 hour shift. She grabs a tan cropped tank top and some high waisted ripped jeans. Throwing them onto her bed she begins changing and getting ready for work.

Once she finishes changing she opens her door to go into the bathroom to wash her face. Walking up to the door she sees the restroom is being used by her brother. She sighs and knocks on the door repeatedly.

"Hurry up Sam, I need to wash my face!" She called out and leans against the door frame. Seconds later the door opens revealing her 15 year old brother, Samuel Alexis Ortiz.
