This last week i was on a mission project called OMP; Ozark Mission Project. We went to Marianna, Arkansas to help out people who were in need. We repaired wheelchair ramps and built one as well. One of the people we helped was waiting for his new heart transplant and needed a ramp to exit his home. It was fun helping him and fun working on the ramp. Anytime we entered the house him mother couldn't go 5 seconds with out saying 'God is good...' she was a woman who had seen her son nearly died many times and seen doctors give up many times. His and her stories were touching to me. He was a grown man when we meet Wednesday but when he was struck with the heart problem he was forced to stay inside a hospital. He told us how he hated seeing younger people wasting their lives away staring at the screens of phones all the time and how he just wanted to go outside and play with the other kids.
I'm aware that i'm posting this on a website that you read on your phone or laptop. How else would you see it? SO I have a challenge for anyone who sees this and reads this first part. I want you to do as i have written out in the last parts of this story. Turn off the screens for 60 minutes and enjoy the great outdoors, they got that nickname for a reason; they're great! To join this challenge tag me on Insta: GeorgiasMind and on twitter: Boredom_thought. Once more, i'm aware that these are both using phones or computers but I need to get you motivated dont I? Whoever catches my attention with their 60 Minute OutDoor challenge will win their own short story of any scene and with whoever they wish. AN AU of some bandmember, a fluff scene with an Anime guy or girl, anything goes. Jus use the hashtag; Great60Outdoors.
Good Luck :)
________
The screen illuminates the dark area of the square room. Not more the five feet of wall space the room feels more like a holding cell to the occupant. Not much is know but based on how fast the fingers fly across the keyboard it seems they just want to get out of here as fast as they can. How did they even get in here?
It was just a normal sunny day. Nothing out of the ordinary when suddenly a bomb went off in the internet with them. One search engine took them to another one where I was suddenly in the midst of different websites struggling to find a strong hold to stay with they were.
Waking up on the floor with a shattered laptop screen wasn't what they planned to happen. They were a good student, nice high marked grades; plenty of friends and a stable social life. The bright screens had changed everything of their lives. To much screen time dropped the grades and eventually games became one on computer. Not with actual face to face people. If everything would just go back to my normal life, that would be perfect.Of course that wasn't possible for them. So here they were putting their skills to the test as they attempted to answer a survey question. Once that was done it took them to another site where they watched videos for endless hours, excited on the rush of new videos coming in constantly. If I answer this they'll let me go. They promised to let them go.
But who would remember that? These people obviously didn't care much about me, they drugged them constantly with different conspiracy theories so they couldn't remember much. The mind is a precious and weak thing. It can be tampered with and destroyed easily. You just have to show a person their breaking point and it seems that they become swarmed with the images and forget their selves.
I know this is true; they did it to me.
But...who am I? Am I them, or myself...
He doesn't know anymore.
Spot wasting your life away staring at a screen of your laptop or phone. Put it down for 60 minutes and go outside. Whether it's just laying in the sun or being active with a sport. Power down to charge up with vitamin D. The choice is yours. To become a mindless being at the will of the internet or become your own person and take claim of your own life.
