They were so similar. That was one of the things that brought them together. But at the same time, they were so different. Asuka was so very scared. Shinji had his fears too, but unlike Asuka, he had figured a lot of it out.
Asuka and his therapist had done wonders. The care she showed for this boy and the therapist's words of magic had convinced him that he could be loved, and that he was. Asuka on the other hand, could not say the same. She rarely saw her therapist, but when she did, she lied.
Asuka knew Shinji cared for her. He even admitted in the heat of the moment that he loved her. This love didn't help cure her though. Asuka used his love to hide from her fears, not fight them. Her sync rate and overall happiness were higher than ever, but always, right around the corner was pain.
Her sleep was usually peaceful due to the loving arms she cursed earlier and his loving gaze usually distracted her from the memories that haunted her. The damage caused by Arael had been patched up, but patched up by a roll of duck tape. Shinji's mother disappeared but then returned to protect him, and is now currently heading out into the great unknown, space. Her own mother had killed herself, and tried to kill Asuka as well.
And the one solace Shinji could get in his fight against his devil of a father, was that his father still loved his mother. Her own father, though not trying to end the world, had fallen for her mother's nurse the second she lost her mind, practically leaving his own daughter to fend for herself.~<(==Line-Break==)>~
Asuka has been running for a while, completely unaware of where she was going. The emotions running through her head left her running on autopilot. By the time Asuka had regained mental consciousness, she was outside city limits. Somehow her subconscious mind and great fitness had ran her all of the way out of the city to the very hill Shinji had shown her on their first date without breaking a sweat, the only moisture being the tears that have been falling from her eyes her whole way there.
In her mental wake, she realized she has forgot her coat. It has been surprisingly cold in Japan lately. So far it hasn't been enough to cause snow, but definitely cold enough to get her sick if she stays out for too long.
Shivering, she really wishes she brought her coat. No too long ago she was perfectly warm in the arms of the wimp she stupidly deemed her boyfriend. Was he really that much of a wimp though?
Even though she was the one to confess to him, and it was her idea for them to cuddle in her bed every night, he held her every night without her even asking him to, and it was amazing. Though he was still that weak boy, all that Evangelion training had strengthened him. Though Asuka needed no man to protect her, his strong arms, and surprisingly soft hands, felt good around her waist.
If she was some regular girl like Hikari, she would've wished she was back sleeping next to her boyfriend but Asuka was no regular girl. Asuka was the strongest and most beautiful 16yr old (Author's note: Yes I aged them up. It just doesn't feel as weird to talk about two teens 'sleeping' together when they are a bit older) on the entire planet. Well, Shinji told her so. BUT, Shinji was just a pervert with a thing for foreign redheads. Well, to be fair, who wouldn't have a thing for her?
Asuka was perfectly content to sit here in the cold, looking over Tokyo 3. The city glowed compared to the dark countryside of Japan. It was like looking up at the night sky, the bright stars in all of that darkness. Even though she was freezing and it was Shinji that showed her this place, she loved it.
The view was so foreign to anything she had seen in Germany and even the United States. The contrast between the dark countryside and the fortress of a city didn't exist in Germany or the US anymore. Though Tokyo 3 was huge, the Western cities dwarfed it. Even with the great loss of population in the last impact, the western world had only grown. No matter how high you were, you couldn't see the other side. And even if you could, the light continued into the countryside.
Maybe different things like this really weren't that bad. She loved this view because it was completely different from anything she has ever seen. Shinji was completely different from any of the guys in Germany. He was a lot less prude and a lot more kind then any of them. And.... A lot less perverted. Though she always calls him a pervert whenever she's angry with him, he has never once tried to have sex with her. In a way it kinda annoyed her that her boyfriend wasn't lusting after her but she can forgive him for that.
Why was she so mad with Shinji? He had done nothing wrong. Why did some nightmare completely negate the love he had constantly shown for her. Maybe she really was the problem. Maybe it would be best for Shinji if she left. She didn't deserve him. Thanks for reading part 2! I know the end went on a rollercoaster of ideas and struggled to keep on track but maybe that's just because Asuka's thoughts were running so fast. Or I just suck at writing, you never know.
Part 3 will come out sometime in the next century probably. The more views, likes, and comments will lead to part 3 coming out sooner so don't forget to like and comment! Constructive criticism in the comments is always welcome!
