Chapter 4 ☆, Louis
Alp was a person with an efficient way of doing things and disliked dragging things out. After learning from Leonard that the breakthrough lay with Louis, she arranged to have afternoon tea with him.
She also visited Mia before her nap, and fortunately, Mia's condition was looking good. She had woken up not long after fainting. She was worried about her little sister. The moment she heard that Alp was coming back to the mansion, she rushed over quickly, especially because her sister's health was always fragile.
If there were any complications, it would be troublesome. So Alp was relieved that Mia seemed to be doing well. Mia knew her sister well, and she could tell that Alp's anger was likely related to that boy, Eugene.
Mia didn't complain too much and just advised Alp to relax and suggested that things would eventually work out. She told her to stop worrying and reminded her that she would find the person she was looking for.
She watched Alp, who was not sleeping well and hadn't even groomed herself, looking tired and disheveled. Mia wasn't sure whether she should be happy for her sister's sake that her heart didn't belong to her or sad because she knew it was someone else.
By the time she woke up, Alp had already left. Every time she smelled Alp's pheromones, she could calm down. During times when she was sick and couldn't sleep, Alp would stay with her, making her feel better. She knew they could never be more than friends. Alp had never shown any interest in her, no matter how you looked at it.
And now that Alp knew there was a new bride, she still didn't give up. Mia realized it was time to stop waiting. She felt sorry for Alp but also knew that she, too, was in on the secret. The reason for not telling her was simple...
Louis was dressed more simply today, and his demeanor wasn't as heavy as it was the day before. A hint of joy had appeared on his face, and Alp knew that Louis had many similarities with Eugene.
It was difficult to spot these similarities only from a distance, and it wasn't surprising that Alp hadn't noticed them.
Louis was very natural in their conversation and complimented the tea at this place. He was nothing like the past few years when he pretended to be Eugene. Alp, however, still saw Louis as the weak and frail young man from four years ago. Although they were both Omegas, Louis wasn't as healthy as Eugene, and he would wrap himself in a blanket during the summer when they played outside. It was incredible how this boy with such an image had been able to deceive her for so long. However, during today's meeting, they seemed like strangers, meeting for the first time, no longer merely observing from afar.
"Louie, I want to get straight to the point. You know where Eugene has gone, don't you?"
After chatting for a while and becoming somewhat familiar with each other, Alp asked.
Louis, who was savoring his pastries, suddenly found them tasteless. Well, he had known she was going to ask about this. He raised an eyebrow slightly and used it as an excuse to say, "He's been gone for more than a year, and no one knows his exact whereabouts."
Louis's voice turned icy, even though he was gone. Someone still remembered him so obsessively, someone who wanted to imitate him, someone who replaced him...
"Ha," she sighed, feeling both helpless and a little angry. "At a time like this, you don't need to hide it from me."
She knew he didn't want to marry her. He should have no reason to refuse.
"If we find Eugene, at least neither of us would be forced into anything."
Louis frowned when he heard this and felt a twinge of jealousy. "Miss Alp, you should know," he said, "that I am your future husband, and you shouldn't keep mentioning Eugene."
After all, he was the official fiance now. How could he tolerate his fiance talking about another boy?
Alp blinked, feeling puzzled. Was the situation different from what she had thought? Why? Leonard always teased her about not understanding Omega's hearts. She should have asked him before coming.
She remained silent, appearing quite unhappy to an outsider.
Louis got angrier, left a remark, and walked away.
"I'm telling you, Eugene can never be with you for the rest of his life. Losing the right to be by your side is his own problem!"
He's acting like I'm to blame for everything. Louis muttered to himself.
However, Alp, who was misunderstood, wasn't angry.
Without saying anything to Louis, she immediately picked up on some key words.
Many years, can't, power, problem. This indicated that a long time ago, due to certain circumstances, Eugene couldn't fulfill his engagement with her. These events were kept secret from her, but many people knew, including Louis.
The Royal family didn't want to lose her as a resource, so Louis had been substituting for Eugene. For how long, she wasn't sure. But the last time she had face-to-face contact with Eugene was probably four years ago...
Ah, don't ask why she's so quick to conclude. She had always remembered everything about Eugene.
Four years, what did he look like now...
Back in her studio, the first thing she did was instruct her assistant.
"Xin, over the next couple of days, help me investigate something. About four years ago, around March or April, find out if Eugene experienced any sudden events, like robberies, major shocks. Or if he met any exceptional Alpha. And whether he had any health issues at the end, make sure to check that too."
"Alright, boss. Any other instructions?"
Xin quickly took notes.
"That's all."
"Boss, there are some fan mail and gifts for you. Should I bring them now?"
"Place them in the lounge; I'll go through them when I have time."
"Okay, your schedule has been sent; please check it promptly."
"Mm."
In her itinerary, one line of text caught her attention, "Media Press Conference"...
Well, Bianca, the designer and model, is about to make a comeback.
