Hwa Yeong had been diligently working with her business partner on a demanding "project", and they had finally reached the point of wrapping it up. She began to tidy up her things, ready to leave the cozy café where they'd been working for hours.
As Hwa Yeong organized her belongings, her business partner, who had been harboring something for a while, finally mustered the courage to speak up. With a hesitant tone, he said, "Umm... Hwa Yeong, can I talk to you for a moment?"
Hwa Yeong, always approachable and kind, smiled warmly and replied, "Oh... okay, yeah, sure." She placed her chair back in position and took a seat, her eyes fixed on her partner. "What is it?"
With a deep breath, her business partner said, "I've actually wanted to say this for a long time now..." Hwa Yeong, curious and encouraging, nodded gently, urging him to continue.
"I wanted to ask if you are will-"Just as the words were about to leave his lips, Hwa Yeong's phone rang, abruptly cutting the conversation short. Hwa Yeong apologized, her attention momentarily diverted.
"Oh, sorry, my bad. Let me just..." She swiftly declined the call and turned back to her partner. "Okay, yes?"
The partner resumed, "I was saying if you are will-"Once again, Hwa Yeong's phone interrupted their dialogue, ringing persistently. This time, her partner agreed to let her take the call, albeit with some disappointment.
Hwa Yeong answered the phone, her voice filled with concern, "Wassup?"
The voice on the other end sounded anxious and desperate, "-YEONGSHII!!! I NEED BACKUP!"
Hwa Yeong's eyes widened in shock as she processed the urgency of the situation.
"What's wrong?" her disappointed business partner asked. A worried Hwa Yeong replied, "Something happened; I need to go. I'm sorry!"
With that, Hwa Yeong hastily left the café, leaving her business partner feeling a bit dejected. As she rushed out, her disappointed partner, Baek Haneul, couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Ah... why is it so hard to ask her out?"
Little did he know that the timing for that conversation might not have been ideal and that it was probably a situation between life and death.
As she hurried to her car, Hwa Yeong continued her call, curious about the situation on the other end, she jokingly asked, "GIRL! ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?"
The voice on the other end replied, "The freak! Do you know who you're talking to? It's me, Aera! They will never get me!"
Hwa Yeong playfully responded, "I'm just asking. I already know you'll be fine. You're Aera, after all. If I act like I don't care, then my juniors will talk badly about me!"
Aera, baffled, inquired, "Since when do you care about 'your juniors' gossip'? Who ar- BANG!"
Hwa Yeong quickly moved her phone away from her ear, startled by the loud noise. "AH! My ear! Looks like I have to be faster! See ya!" she exclaimed, ending the call.
