For almost six months, Yorei Aishi was completely, and utterly, alone.

Her new home was styled in a similar way of her old home, traditional. But it had obvious modern touches. Unlike the Fujita's home which was very traditional in style, and preferred to stay that way.

On Yorei's first day, the house was completely barren. No maids, butlers, knights, nothing. It was ridiculous, but briefly she thought she had been kidnapped. She treaded lightly down the hall, looking around for anyone but no soul was in sight.

Yorei walked around for a good while and noticed how big Aishi's house really was. It stretched on and almost felt never ending and she had turned down so many halls, she lost which direction her room was in.

After a lot of wondering around did Yorei find something interesting. A sliding door was opened a smidge, just enough for her to see green grass and bright sunlight.

It was outside.

She was allowed outside once in her life. Actually, allowed was the wrong word to use. She was snuck out, by her very own grandmother. It was dark, and everyone was asleep by then. Everyone except her, her grandmother, and the stars they watched together.

It was the first time she saw stars. Bright, burning, and beautiful just as her books described. Her grandmother named every star in sight, and Yorei forced herself to remember each one. Sirius, Regulus, Irena, the list went on. They were all ingraved into her memory.

What stuck to Yorei the most, though, was not the pretty stars that gave light, but the flowers that surround her.

"They're called Lavanders." If her grandmother found her obsession weird, she didn't say anything.

"Lavenders." Younger Yorei whispered under her breath in wonder.

The color was so captivating, and the smell was so mesmerizing. They were used to symbolize peace, loyalty, and grace, as she later read about them. But they were also believed to have healing properties, even used in cleansing rituals as a protective barrier.

The book was right about that, because in that moment, lying down with her grandmother, looking up at the stars, surrounded by Lavenders, she had never felt more safe.

Yorei never understood why her parents were so against her leaving the walls of her home, but she never questioned it. She had accepted that it would be years, maybe even in another life, when she'd feel the sun against her skin.

But her parents weren't here, and this house was now hers. No one was here to stop her.

The new information had Yorei walking with a bit more speed than earlier. Slowly, she slid the door open, and was greeted with the most beautiful sight she's ever seen.
