SELENA WAS A BITCH IN GENERAL, of course, but sometimes she could take it too far. Right now, she was planning on ruining Naomi's life. Shanaya listened, almost in fear as she heard Selena plot the most evil plan ever. "It seems like she's pretty close with Guy Germaine. And he's clearly vulnerable so I could start dating him and ruin their whole relationship." Selena suggested. Shanaya gulped and stayed quiet.
"What do you think?" Selena asked, looking straight into Shanaya's soul. Shanaya took a deep breath, feeling small like she always did around Selena. "Yeah...it's okay." Selena raised her eyebrow before continuing to plan the small things to get to Guy.
Naomi on the other hand sat at the dinner table, her dad and mom silent as Vivi awkwardly looked around, somehow trying to find the elephant in the room. Naomi knew what was the elephant. They were still very mad at her, especially for the drinking part. Mimi knew she fucked up, and she could've gotten arrested if not running away as soon as she could. She also knew that no matter how much time would pass, they would never forgive her.
But they had to get over it soon, understand that their little girl was growing up, and they couldn't bear the fact she was. Her dad was always sensitive with his girls growing up. He actually started sobbing a few minutes after Naomi announced she got her period.
The sounds of forks scratching against the plate made Naomi grimace as she poked at her food. "Eat your food, Naomi." her mom said sternly. Viviana had no idea what was happening since her parents never told her. Mimi sighed as she placed the mashed potatoes in her mouth, trying to ignore the crickets chirping from outside. She thought that joining the drama club would make her parents happy since they were always excited about her trying out new things.
After dinner, Naomi and Viviana washed the dishes side by side in pure silence. "Okay, what's up with the tension."
"What tension?" Naomi asked cluelessly. "The awkward tension. Did something happen?"
"No." Mimi lied, "Everything is fine, today's just been weird."

Naomi waited nervously for the teacher's instructions as she waited awkwardly on the stage, the few backstage students being the only people in the auditorium. Still, Naomi felt like she was being judged. The teacher rushed around the room before finally taking a deep breath and sitting down, putting on her usual peaceful smile. "You could start now, honey," she said. That was her cue.
"Um, right. Uh...thou- I mean - sorry," Naomi apologized as she stumbled over her words, trying to laugh it off. "No you did it right." the teacher said, shaking her head reassuringly. Naomi shut her eyes tightly before pretending she was Juliet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The lines smoothly rolled off her tongue. When she opened her eyes she heard the students who were working backstage clapping as Miss. Ortiz smiled and nodded, writing something down. "You did well today, Naomi. I'm proud. You're dismissed." she said, grinning as she got up and disappeared into the corner of the stage.
Naomi felt a smile on her face as she happily left the stage, her backpack attached to her back as she went outside the school, waiting for one of her parents to pick her up. To her surprise, it was her aunt instead. This dad was going oddly well.
"Aunt Moira!" she exclaimed. Moira hugged her niece tightly, smiling. "You got so big! Can't believe you're a sophomore!" she squealed. "Can't believe you're a model!" Her aunt laughed in happiness. "I know right?!"
Moira was the fun aunt, the aunt that wasn't married yet, the aunt that didn't have kids, the aunt that was never judgemental...y'know what I'm talking about. She was twenty-five and was a model, supposed to be a lawyer, but she announced that she decided to take her own path and live her dream. She was admirable in so many ways, to Mimi at least. She was her dad's sister, and her dad was very over-protective of his little sister.
By the time they got back home, her parents were already cooking what felt like a million meals while her sister was waiting eagerly for them to come back. They blasted nirvana in the car as they drove home, the sun setting.
