I was so happy when they were around, everything was perfect and I was smiling everyday. They were my best friends and I was theirs. When they weren't making sure everything was in balance, they were with me and we would talk about anything and everything. They would bring me news about what the humans and other Faes were up to. The younger ones would bring me gifts from the world because they didn't think it was fair that I couldn't visit. I also loved being around my other two friends, Death and Life. We would talk about our little helpers and we loved seeing them interact with each other. Death and Life loved their little helpers, Death's grim reapers and Life's angels, just as much as I loved my fairies of harmony. Everything was perfect, until the humans turned on my friends. I wanted so badly to help them, at least to save two, but I could do nothing to help. I wasn't allowed to, the world told me this had to happen. I had to sit back and watch as one by one my friends were killed, either for their magic or because those humans wanted revenge for my friends doing their job. My heart shattered when the last of my friends died and I was left alone. After that I shut myself in my realm and tried to do my job without my hatred of the human race affecting it. I was a bit happy to hear the world's plan to separate the world into two but that wouldn't bring back my friends. I spent my days alone, not even going to visit Death and Life anymore because it was painful to see them with their little helpers. The two would come to visit me anytime they could and try to cheer me up, they would even bring one of their little helpers to keep me company but it just wasn't the same. That's how I spent the next 100 years, in almost total insolation. Until one day, both Death and Life came to visit me in my realm with smiles on their faces. "Come to try a new plan to cheer me up?" I asked, with no emotion in my voice. "Actually we came with some good news. I think you are going to like what we are about to say." Life said, making me a little curious. "The world summoned us for a meeting and told us the worlds are in need of some help." Death said. "And how is that good news? That just sounds like more work for us to do." I said, looking at the floor again. "It's good news because the world wants to bring back the fairies of harmony." Life said. I looked at them, thinking I heard them wrong but their faces told me they were telling the truth. "Y-you mean it?" I asked, as I felt happiness for the first time in years. "Yes our friend, the world wants them to return to help you bring balance to the worlds." Death said, as I got to my feet. "It wants you to come to my realm to choose two souls that will be born as your new friends." Life said, excitement in her voice. "O-of course, let's go at once." I said, wanting to go choose them immediately. Life led the way to the part in her realm that housed all new souls, the valley of souls.
The valley was a beautiful place filled with everything a soul would need to keep them busy until it was time for them to get their mortal bodies and be sent to the worlds. For Life, she housed the souls for every planet and every dimension, making the valley very large and very busy. I could see angels gathering up souls that will be on their way to the pools of life to get their bodies. I also saw thousands upon thousands of souls running and playing in the valley, so many little blue orbs for me to choose from. I searched and searched through the souls until my eyes landed on two souls in particular. They looked like any other soul but unlike the others, they stood away from everyone. They seemed to only want to be with each other and no one else. The two seemed to be happily tag with each other in their own little area. Life must have noticed me looking at them and let out a giggle. "Sweet aren't they? Some of the few souls I've seen that only prefer each other than being in a group like the others. Those two are always together no matter what. It's a shame I'll have to separate them when their turn comes." Life said, a sad smile on her face. "Why?" I asked, knowing that was a stupid question. "The two are destined for worlds nowhere near each other and are destined to never meet again. I hate it but I can do nothing to change that fate." She said, letting out a sigh. My heart hurt hearing that but at the mention of fate, an idea came to me. Before I could think it over, I made my way over to the two souls. The two noticed me and one went to hide behind the other, while the other one tried to protect it's friend. "Don't fear little ones, I'm nothing more than a friend." I said, holding out my hand for them to jump onto. The two looked at each other before running up and jumping into my hand. I lifted my hand up to get a better look at the two. The two seemed to study me a bit before continuing their game of tag on my hand. I couldn't help but laugh at them and I knew they were perfect. I turned to face Life but I guess my face told her everything she needed to know. She was so happy because now, the two would only be separated for a few years before they would see each other again.
