FRIDAY — 5 / 4 / 23

It was Princeville tradition to dress nicely for the Riverboat Cruise, so of course, we dressed to the occasion. It wasn't a ballroom dress kind of situation- just a moderate cute-casual kind of event.

"Okay okay, should I wear my white Kendra Scott necklace or the one with the black heart?" I asked, holding up the two options for Maddie to pick.

"I say the heart."

"Are you guys ready yet?" Jenna asked, finally coming out of the bathroom.

"Oh my gosh Jen, you look so cute!" Maddie squealed.

"Thanks! We need to go though, it's almost 6."

(i was thinking whether or not i should include the outfits bc it can be a nightmare trying to find accurate ones but these were actually pretty easy to find so here yew go .. i tried to be aesthetic and whatnot but erm anyways-)

I jumped slightly as a pair of arms gently wrapped around my waist. "There you are." I twirled around to see Lucas smiling down at me. "You look so good."

"You're not looking so bad yourself," I grinned playfully.

"You sure it's just 'not so bad' ? Your eyes say otherwise."

I pushed him away so he wouldn't see my cheeks getting red. "Go away Lu..."

Once everyone was in the lobby and the teachers did a name call for all 100 students, we started walking back towards the pier.

"Damn, that's a big boat," Evan said, marveling at the cruise ship docked in front of us.

( dont be thinking of l;ike a whole disney summer cruise ship- it was a much smaller one with three floors: the deck, a floor under the deck, and an open deck above it. there was an indoor danceroom kinda type thing on the deck floor too )

"That's not even considered a boat," Maddie laughed.

---

"Look at the view," I breathed, pointing to the brightly lit city that we were drifting away from.

"I much rather prefer this view," Lucas replied, his gaze fixed on me while playing with a strand of my hair.

I covered my face with my hands to hide the blush forming on my cheeks. "Lucas..."

He grinned at the way I looked away, embarrassment written on my face. "What? I think you're prettier than a bunch of lights is all."

I smiled at him, planting a small kiss on his cheek.

"Mel, Lucas, quit being all flirty out there and get in!" Oliver called, coming up from the deck. "Everyone's going wild over TikTok songs."

And so we joined in, laughing and singing along to Ice Spice and SZA and Ed Sheeran and whoever else was on. (honestly it was probably one of the best moments of my life- and let me tell you everyone was SCREAMING the lyrics to boys a liar and kill bill)

Eventually though, the dancefloor was closed off because some kid puked from sea sickness, and we all had to go outside. So that was how my friends and I ended up on the third floor, admiring the gorgeous city lights as we talked. As time went on, I swore I kept hearing my name being whispered again and again, but I tried to brush it off. I was probably just hearing things, right?

But as soon as the thought crossed my mind, a loud voice behind me shouted my name. We all turned in the general direction only to see some guys waving me over- Cooper standing in the middle of it all, his eyes fixated on me. My friends and I exchanged odd looks.

"Hey Melody, come over here! He wants to talk to you!"

Oh shiiit.

sorry it took so long for me to update its literally been forever 🫢
