Grace :
Adrik's disappointment was evident as he said, "Okay."
I immediately regretted my earlier defiance, realizing that I had pushed him too far. To make amends, I set my phone aside and reluctantly got out of bed.
As I began making my way to the bathroom, Adrik suddenly pinned me against the wall, catching me off guard. My heart raced as I tried to push him away.
"W-what are you doing?" I stammered, my voice trembling.
He leaned in closer, a smirk playing on his lips, as he buried his face in my neck and inhaled deeply. His words were laced with a mix of amusement and desire, "You think you can talk back to me and get away with it? Huh?"
Adrik's proximity was unsettling, and I felt a rush of conflicting emotions. He leaned in even closer, and it seemed like he was about to kiss me when suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my lower abdomen.
I gasped and doubled over, clutching my stomach, as a cramp attacked with intense ferocity. The sudden pain was excruciating, and I couldn't hold back a whimper of agony.
Adrik's expression shifted from one of desire to concern as he released his hold on me. "Grace, are you okay?"
I struggled to speak through the pain, my voice strained, "Cramp... just a cramp..."
He quickly helped me to the bathroom and fetched some pain relievers, his earlier intensity replaced with genuine care as he tended to me during my moment of discomfort.
Adrik's concern was unexpected, and he swiftly helped me to my feet. Before I could protest, he scooped me up bridal style, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "Don't touch me!"
Ignoring my protests, he carried me effortlessly to the kitchen, where he gently set me down on the alise. I shot him an annoyed look, but he simply smiled, his eyes smouldering with a hint of desire, and said, "You need to eat something. I'll take care of it."
As he started rolling up his sleeves, revealing his sinewy forearms adorned with a complex array of tattoos, a shiver of unexpected attraction ran down my spine. The intricate ink on his skin added an intriguing layer to his already captivating presence.
Caught in a moment of distraction, I couldn't help but watch him, my gaze lingering on the tattoos that adorned his forearms. Each design told a story, and I found myself drawn to the mystery they held.
Caught in a moment of distraction, I found myself staring at him, and he teasingly remarked, "Is it bad to stare, Grace?"
I blinked and looked away, flustered. "I wasn't staring."
Adrik chuckled softly, his voice low and husky. "Sure, you weren't."
"What would you like to eat?" he asked, his voice low.
I decided to playfully challenge him, given his earlier demanding attitude. "Can you even cook?"
He chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes, as he leaned closer and whispered, "Don't challenge me, love. I can do the unexpected."
With a coy smile, I replied, "Alright then, surprise me. I want pasta."
As I continued to stare at him, Adrik met my gaze, his eyes locking onto mine in a way that sent a jolt of heat through me. He maintained eye contact for a moment, the intensity between us palpable, before he turned away to prepare the pasta, leaving me both flustered and intrigued.
As Adrik worked on preparing the pasta, I sat in the kitchen, lost in my thoughts. The events of the past few days had been nothing short of a whirlwind, and my emotions were in turmoil.
Just as Adrik was about to serve the pasta, Jeremy walked in. His presence brought a sense of urgency to the room, and he looked at Adrik and me with a serious expression.
Jeremy's arrival had been prompted by something urgent, and without further ado, he addressed Adrik with a tone of gravity.
"Adrik, your office. Now," Jeremy commanded.
Adrik glanced at me briefly, his expression unreadable, before nodding and rising from his seat. He instructed me to continue eating before following Jeremy out of the kitchen.
As they left, the weight of uncertainty settled upon me, and I couldn't help but wonder what had transpired to warrant such a serious summons to Adrik's office.
