Chapter 5

Three days later Amy is driving back towards Heartland. As the Ranch came into view tears were running down Amy's face seeing the burnt remains , suddenly she stopped the truck looking down the hill.
She picked up her binoculars from the front passenger foot well and took them out of the case, Amy looked carefully to see what was going on and recognized the woman Lilly one of her mums old clients, she had a son who was two years older than herself and she had two daughters (Twins)
about ten years old, her husband was fighting a large parasite the size of a Greatdane dog. The son was trying to stab it but the outer shell was too hard, the girls were screaming.
Amy got her rifle out and put a clip of Specially made blood soaked tips on the bullets. She adjusted her scope and switched on her laser hoping they would see it, knowing someone was going to shoot it.

Down at the Ranch there son was trying to get it off his father, they were obviously immune but if this thing bit any of them they could die from the damage.
Being immune didn't mean you were Immortal.
One of the girls saw the red Dot on the bug and shouted to her brother who moved away, then Amy fired three rounds.
The bug squealed but hadn't let go of the man so Amy fired four more shots to its head.
She got in her truck and drove down to them, she grabbed her Crossbow and walked up to the giant bug, she cut herself with her small pen knife and smeared her fresh blood all over the bolt then shot it through its eye.
The bug let go of Lilly's husband and started fitting until it stopped completely dead. Amy walked over to the husband confused as to why if he was immune the thing didn't die.
It turned out that he had very thick clothes and a Jacket on, so it's teeth didn't penetrate to the skin.

Amy hugged her client and was introduced to her family, Amy was more interested in her son, she recognised him from school.
Lilly asked Amy about her parents and her Sister and Jack. Amy explained what happened to herself and her family and what she found when she was eventually discharged months later. Amy told Lilly they were lucky she came back as she was thinking of just leaving, except she needed to check on her Cremation attempt for her sister and Grampa, also to make sure the bloody bugs were dead.
It seemed there were still some alive.
Amy explained that she was going to hunt them down then head for Sanctuary.
Her Mum's friend Lilly was also taking her family to the same place but saw Heartland and thought she'd see if the family were there and if so hopefully get some horse food for her family's Horse's, then saw the burnt remains of the house.
Amy had her rifle and glock, all coated with blood tipped bullets, her friends turned to speak to her but Amy was gone, she was on the hunt.
They knew Amy had found some as soon as they heard gun shots, it went on for ages, sometimes it was quiet then they'd hear screams of the bugs because she was using her Crossbow.
Sounds of gunfire and creature's screaming were coming from different places as she moved around the Ranch.
Eventually Amy arrived back from where she started, she told them they were all dead. She asked Lilly if they knew how deadly their blood was to these Parasites and it would kill them in seconds. They were shaking their heads, so Amy explained it to them and how leaving small amounts of blood from a syringe around the edge of their camp at night would protect them. The scream's of the bugs would be their own Alarm system.

Lilly asked Amy if she was heading to Sanctuary now she'd cleared the place.
Amy asked for a few more minutes while she checked the burnt rubble of the house before they Left.
Lilly nodded to her and Amy walked to where she remembered seeing Lou and Jack dead on the floor and small parasites climbing out of their bodies.
All Amy found was Ashes and a few pieces of bones, the Fire was so hot it incinerated everything.
Amy suggested they stock up on horse cubes which is another reason why she came back and she wanted the Herbs and Her mum's Journal's.
The other reason she came back was to swap the little trailer for her mom and dad's Living Quaters Horse Trailer, Gooseneck, Slant Load 4 Horse Trailer, it means the horses have more room and she has living space. Amy noticed that Lilly's family had the same type.
Eventually they were ready to set off when Lilly finally decided to introduce her family properly.
Lilly's Husband Brad, the Twin Girls Ruby and Phillipa, lastly she introduced her son who'd been eyeing up Amy since he saw her, Ty .
So Amy finally met the Borden Family.
They got in their vehicles about to set off when Ty Jumped out and knocked Amy's window.
He begged for her to let him ride Shotgun as their truck was so cramped. Amy smiled and agreed. Once she cleared the passenger seat area she told Ty to Jump in.
Then they left Heartland heading for Sanctuary which was somewhere near Diamond Ridge in Alaska, she hoped they would catch up to the woman she'd spoken to as she thought it was in BC. As Amy was driving Ty was busy reloading the Rifle , Glock , and a quiver of Bolts.
