Autumn finally arrived, in all her glory. Waiting for your favorite season takes an eternity, and when it finally comes, everything feels like the most beautiful dream.

But nothing feels the same without her.

Bellatrix went away for a mission from the Ministry. It seemed like one of the most important and difficult ones, since she was away from home already for two months.

We never liked to be apart, especially for this long. With every day things seemed even worse, like my soul and heart couldn't live without the other half. All the baking, taking walks through the forest, reading books and other things felt just like a way to kill time, but not to enjoy it.

And just like this time, I decided to read in our garden, to keep my mind off anxious thoughts, even if just for a brief moment.

Suddenly, as I was lost in the book, I heard a voice in the distance.

"Reading without me?"

The voice I knew so well. The one I could listen to endlessly, no matter how tired I was. The voice that was like a key to my soul.

As I quickly looked up from my book, I saw her standing in the middle of the garden, surrounded by the trees and autumn leaves.

The book was forgotten somewhere on the bench as I ran to her, falling into her arms and almost crushing her.

But Bellatrix was someone who couldn't ever be crushed.

"Bella..." I whispered tenderly against her chest, breathing in her scent.

"Little one..." she muttered with her face buried in my hair, hugging me just as tight.

I sighed, clinging onto the material of her black dress, not daring to let go. It felt unreal, being able to hold her again in my arms after so many days.

"It took you so long.. I was so worried, I- I couldn't sleep or function normally-" I started to mumble, my voice breaking more with each word.

"Hush, kitten.. you know that I always come back to you..." she whispered in a low tone, as her hand went to my hair, stroking them slowly.

Soon we made our way inside of our house, sitting together in the living room. I cuddled to Bellatrix's side, caressing her hand.

"So, how was the mission? We spend so much time apart, I want to hear everything..." I said softly, placing a soft kiss on the top of her shoulder. She sighed, resting her head on top of mine in a tender gesture.

"It was one of the most difficult ones I had in the past time... I still have some bruises" she murmured softly, running her fingers through my hair. "But finally, I did what I had to do. A lot of blood and ashes, but it's always worth it when I can come back home to you..." she said softly, pressing her lips to my forehead.

I frowned as I listened to her, glancing upwards at her face.

"Bruises? Where?" I asked, concerned.

Her expression changed slightly to more distant, which my eyes immediately noticed.

"That is not important, darling. It is just a bruise or two" gently, but seriously, Bellatrix took my face in her hands. "I'm fine, really. You shouldn't worry. Everything is alright now" she said softly, giving me a little kiss on the nose.
