"daddy me want chips!" Jolani yelled out to me as I stood on my tippie toes reaching the laundry detergent I ran out of at home.. "No baby.. No more chips you have a box with plenty of chips in it i bought for you last weekend." I told him as he started crying..
"No no no! I ate all of the good chips daddy!" Jolani yelled at me as I held him by his hand trying to keep him from running off.. "Son son wait a minute please!" I yelled at him as the white people all around the walmart stare at us..
Acting like imma beat my child , in front of them..
Soon I felt a sharp pain to my finger making me yelp, this kid.. Ugh..
Jolani really just bit me?
I watched as jolani soon ran off making me roll my eyes, instead of immediately going after him I put the laundry detergent in my cart soon hearing jolanis voice..
"daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" he yelled out , my heart beats sped up as I felt like he was in complete danger, soon pushing quickly threw the aisles with my cart to the noise.. Soon staring at Jolani talking to some man.. I furrowed my eyebrows as the males back was turnt towards me..
"excuse me? Why are you even speaking to my son?What did you do?!" I asked as I walked over to Josiah popping his hand for running off making him cry, "um.. My bad.." the male told me as he stared down at A crying jolani and then at me.. "Don't worry I don't abuse my kid." I told him rolling my eyes as I turned to leave intel I heard my name be called, "Josiah..?"
I looked over at the male, my eyes widening..
"H-Harlem..?" I asked as I let go of Jolani , Jolani now digging in our cart.. "yeah..You look good..how you doing? You got a kid now?" Harlem spoke to me as I felt my heart sink into my chest.. I furrowed my eyebrows.. All i felt was anger and sadness.
"Y-You left me..."
"Josiah.."
"Why did you come back?"
"josiah come on.." he sighed
"you left me.. Harlem do you not understand that?"
"You were just gonna make me wait. And I have dreams of mine I had to make happen before it was too late." Harlem told me as I felt tears streaming down my face.. Harlem looked beteen me and Jolani, "who's the special girl?" Harlem asked me as he had a frown on his face.
Right.. He doesn't know..
"s-she's amazing." I told him as he pursed his lips soon nodding..
"Chips daddy!" Jolani said as he grabbed a bag of blue Dorito's .
"no baby. I told you that already.." I said as Jolani groaned, Harlem chuckled "I think you should let em have it." Harlem told me as I furrowed my eyebrows, " I don't think you have any say in that." I told him as I soon crossed my arms, "Cool.. Look imma go, it was nice seeing you again, Nice meeting you bud." Harlem spoke as he soon walked away..
I stared at him as he soon disappeared out of sight from my brown eyes he once thought was pretty..
"bye harlem.." I mumbled as I wiped my tears away.. "come on baby.. Let's pay for those chips and these groceries." I told Jolani as he soon grabbed my arm and we started our walk to the self check out section..
