"Leave me alone!" Jolani yelled at me as I tried to shake him awake, which obviously was a fail since he was faking being asleep— "No, you need to get your little butt up.." I told him as he slapped my hand away from him.
"okay. Be like that. You won't meet your daddies friend then." I told Josiah as his eyebrows furrowed ,
"daddy has friends?"
"Brianna and Adonis-"
"they don't count!"
"Do you want to meet him or not."
"Okay! I'm sorry dad!" Lani yelled with a toothy smile as I laughed watching him instantly get up "look I can pick out my own " he told me as he ran to his dresser grabbing a random shirt and looking around for bottoms to match it.. "clothes" I finished for him as he sighed relieved "clo-the-sis" he pronounced "thank you, had hard figure out word!" He added as he pulled out gray shorts and white matching socks that were folded together..
I nodded,
"Now put your clothes on so we can go grab McDonald's."

'𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤' is all I heard coming from the front door,
I laid still hoping Adonis or Brianna would open it for me but damn nigga— was I wrong.. because the knock long continued after it paused for about 40 seconds..
Then I go on thinking about how I remembered Brianna and Adonis weren't here so now I feel stupid.
I get up from my bed rolling my eyes as I soon leave my room now walking towards my front door in only boring basketball shorts.
Looking through the peep Hole soon holding back the urge to smack my teeth,
This nigga..
I unlock the front door and then follow that up with opening it seeing Josiah.. and that same child from the grocery store that came up to me asking my name.. Josiah's son, my son..? I guess..
"Uh..Josiah I thought you were gonna tell me when you planned on dropping him off.." I furrowed my eyebrows at Josiah as the little boys eyes widened..
I watched as he smiled up at me showing his gap,
"I'm sorry.. I planned on dropping him off today, yesterday. I just forgot to let you know, um.. — But We can do it another time I'm sorry." Josiah panicked grabbing Lani by his hand ready to leave now.. "No! No.. Just.. Next time give me a call or text, something.. When you picking him up?" I spoke as I crossed my arms..
Josiah looked between me and jolani sighing, he probably feels like this is the last time he'll see his son, He knows it's not but it's how he feels.. i guess any other mother would too
