I took a deep breath as I stared at the man who walked into my office.  He was wearing a black business suit with a white shirt that spelled out his wealth, and emphasized his striking looks.  A sensuous shiver travelled down my spine. His height, tall and imposing at six foot one, was hard to miss. He met my gaze and smiled at me. He was simply gorgeous.

Biglang pumintig ng mabilis ang puso ko habang nakikipagtitigan ako sa kanya. Kinakabahan ako. Bakit ba may pakiramdam akong hindi tungkol sa finances ang ipinunta n’ya dito.

“Lia…”

I let out a relaxed breath with the sound of my name from his lips. I loved his accent, it was a perfect blend of English and French, at kung di ko lang siya kilala ay iisipin kong tulad ko, ay isa rin siya sa napakaraming taong nagtatrabaho sa call center these days. Hindi lamang iisang beses na kapag may business meetings kami ay bigla siyang magsasalita ng French without realizing he’d done so, and would quickly catch himself and revert back to English. Napangiti ako. He hadn’t yet figured out the fact that I also spoke French, not as fluent as he is subalit tama lamang upang hindi mahuli sa usapan. In fact, madami pa akong ibang lenguwahe na kayang salitain salamat na lamang sa training ko sa BPO Services.

“Miguel, what brings you here, what can I do for you?” I liked the fact that we are on first name basis, a rule he had established the first time he had walked into my office as a new client. I also love it when he calls me Lia. Gusto ko rin yung kinang ng mata niya na parang pinupuri ako from head to toe, xxjfmxx which meant this new cobalt-blue business suit had made an impression.

Thank you for seeing me on such a short notice; I came here to clarify some things about the business proposal Lia.” He said, breaking into my thoughts.

“Aling business proposal yun?  Please have a seat,” I said, coming from behind my desk.

He took the chair I offered and I sat in the one across from it, ganito talaga kami, “less formality” ika nga.

“YOUR business proposal.”  Sabi niya, the moment na makaupo ako.

“YOUR business proposal.”  Echo ng boses niya sa utak ko

“…” psh. wala naman akong maalala na may inoffer ako sa kanyang business proposal.

“Hey Lia, may problema ba? Di ka na nagsalita diyan. Please remember that I’m a busy man and I do have an important meeting back at the hotel in a few hours, so my time with you will have to be brief.” he informed me, breaking into my thoughts again.

I cleared my throat...

“I’m sorry pero, I can’t remember offering you any business proposal, not in any occasion.” I said.

“What the hell? What is wrong with you Lia?” Inis na sagot niya.

“…”

“Wait! Wala ka ba talagang maalala, or ayaw mo lang alalahanin kasi the proposal is sort of personal on your part? Gusto mo bang ipaalala ko sa’yo?” dagdag n’ya pa, but this time may ngiting nakaloloko sa mukha niya.

“Please enlighten me…” I told him, kasi I’m a bit confused na, I have a hunch na I know what he is talking about, pero I just can’t figure out what it exactly is.

“Seriously, Lia, di mo talaga naalala?” sabi n’ya na parang di pa rin talaga makapaniwala

“Oo nga! Palagay mo ba magkakaganito ako kung naaalala ko? Hello?! I could not afford naman na pagmukhaing tanga ang sarili ko no?“ medyo naiinis na sagot ko sa kanya.
