Hello readers and thank you for reading this! This is my first fanfic and crossover, so I hope you think it's good! I'd definitely appreciate it if you'd give feedback so I know how I'm doing. I'll repeat the disclaimer: I do not own Hunter x Hunter and Naruto or its characters. Yoshihiro Togashi and Masashi Kishimoto do respectively. Not me. So, on to the prologue!

Killua's POV (9 years old):
I laid on my bed with a sigh. Pain flared all-through out my body. It had been another day in the torture chamber for messing with Piggy's computer. I was just about to turn over and fall asleep, when I heard a knock on the heavy iron door.
I groaned. "Who is it?"
"It's me." said a monotone voice. Illumi. It just had to be him.
Illumi pushed open the door. His empty eyes bored through me.
"Well?" I glared at him. "What do you want?"
"Be nice, Kil. I just needed to pass on a message from Dad. I have some good news."
"What?" I asked. I wasn't excited. When it came to good news with Illumi, it usually meant that I was going to be assigned an A-rank mission, or that I could accompany him on a S-rank mission.
"If you can complete tomorrow's mission, you can get another chance at initiation."
I groaned even more. They're still offering that to me? The initiation was when someone in the clan was officially accepted into the clan by completing an important mission. If you completed the mission, you would receive the Zoldyck hitai ate. I was offered it when I was 7, but I wasn't accepted because I refused to complete the mission. Illumi, Kalluto and Piggy have all completed initiation. And Alluka. . . I clenched my teeth. She was never offered initiation. Why? Just because of her Kekkei Genkai that's different than everyone else's, why does she has to be shut away like some monster?
"Kil?" Illumi's voice rang me out of my thoughts. "Did you hear what I just said?"
"Sorry what?"
"You have to complete the mission this time. You are the heir to the clan, so you must be initiated. You may not have a chance to be initiated again."
Well maybe I don't want to be the heir! I wanted to say out loud, but I knew that doing so would earn me another night in the torture chamber. I groaned. "What's the mission?"
"You're eliminating the CEO of Kimura Company, Kimura Hyosuke. He will travel to the Land of Water in four days, so be ready by then.
". . .Hai."
~
I glanced at the amount of ninja Kimura had hired to guard him. From the looks of it, they were about a dozen from the Hidden Waterfall. I sighed. I was doing a lot of sighing these days. Time to get this over with.
I jumped off the tree backwards, letting myself free-fall towards the ground as I sharpened my nails. I landed in the midst of the group, and immediately dashed for Kimura. Two of the ninja stood in front of him protectively. I dodged the shuriken and kunai they threw at me.
Sorry about this.
I slashed both of their throats quickly, feeling the all-too familiar texture of blood on my hands again. With Kimura being left unprotected, I repeated the process, completing my mission.
Or maybe not yet. . . I looked upon the faces of the ninja who had just lost a few of their teammates, and failed their mission.
Are you going to make me kill more?
Kicks, punches, jutsu and ninja tools were thrown at me in a sort of rhythm as I dodged and slashed until it was all over. I collapsed in front of a puddle, a remnant of one of the Water-Release jutsu they had thrown at me. Someone's blood had gotten mixed in with the water, creating spirals of red that dissipated slowly.
I felt a small pain in my upper arm and looked up to see that a kunai had grazed it. I looked around and spotted a girl, probably around the same age as I was who had her hand held out, clearly the one who had thrown the kunai. Tears poured down her cheeks.
Why is she crying?
She looked a little too young to be a genin. The kunai that she had thrown earlier had barely cut my arm. Almost like a paper cut. But why would she be here if she wasn't a ninja?
Oh, I realized. It's Kimura's daughter. I clenched my teeth. It's happening again. When the family members and friends come for revenge.
"What would you do when that happens?" I remembered asking Illumi.
"You kill them."
I took a step towards the girl. "I—
But her voice was cut off by a needle that had suddenly sprouted from her head.
"I thought I told you to never hesitate. That was really disappointing, Kil."
I stared at the corpse that now laid before me. "Ani—" Illumi cut off my words with a hard slap.
"Really disappointing," Illumi repeated. "But for the sake of the family, I won't tell Dad."
~
I trudged up the mountain and back into the family mansion.
"Kil!" My mother shrieked. "Oh, such a good boy! Illumi told us all about the mission! You're growing up so fast!" I shoved her off of me and caught Kalluto's gaze, who had stayed as stoic as ever.
"You are now officially initiated into the clan." I felt my dad place his hand on my head and press something into my hand. I looked down to see the Zoldyck hitai ate, a circling dragon symbol engraved in the middle.
Without a word, I left to my room.
I grabbed my backpack and packed some provisions. I slid it on my back, and turned to leave my room for the very last time.
Gomen ne, Alluka. I'll be back to get you someday. Please wait for me till then.
I scratched a line through my hitai ate.
Because soon, you and I will both be free.
