Chapter 7: Growing Up...

IMPORTANT (A/N): In this chapter I'm going to be speeding through the growth and development of Killua and Gon, so I will only be throwing in the important parts, which also means there will be lots of timeskips. I will also throw in some author's notes to explain what's happened up until that point. The reason I'm doing this is because I want to speed up the story till the point I can actually start the main part of the story. Enjoy Chapter 7!

Killua and Gon have begun the Chunin exams, which pretty much are the same as the Hunter Exam, except no frequent deaths. They are now in the air ship, going to the Third Exam Site. Note that everything that happened so far in the exam is the same as what happened in the anime.

Killua's POV:

After boarding the ship, the examiner Beans explained that we would arrive at the next exam site at 8 am tomorrow. It didn't take long to get on the ship, seeing as all the participants were only from the Cloud, since the Raikage stubbornly refused to join the Leaf's Exams.

I waved back at the group we just met, Team Samui.

"Come on Killua!" Gon urged. "Let's explore the ship!"

"Coming!"

"Kurapika! Leorio! You guys too!!"

"Ugh..."

After Gon dragged us everywhere, we finally stopped to take a break.

"I *huff* think that's *huff* enough Gon *huff*" Leorio panted.

"Sorry about that!" Gon said sheepishly, rubbing his head. "I have a tendency to explore new places since I grew up in the forest area of Kumo."

"Yeah, your home is pretty amazing." I commented.

"What about you Killua? Where did you grow up? I remember you telling us that you came from  Kumo, but where exactly?" Kurapika questioned.

I panicked. Could I lie to them?

I gulped. "Well, I lived in this small village near the outskirts of the Land of Lightning, and-"

I glanced at Kurapika whose eyebrows were raised.

My heart pounded, Can I really tell them the truth? Will it change anything? I remembered the past few years. I don't want anything to change. But. . . "Can you all keep a secret?"

They all nodded.

I told them how I was the heir of the Zoldycks, a rogue ninja clan which originated in Kumo, and how they massacred a thousand Kumo ninja. I told about how I ran away, and how I ended up here. When I finished, I braced myself for the looks of horror or disbelief on their faces.

"So are all of your family assassins?" I looked up to see Gon speak.

"Huh?" I was bracing myself for something worse. Then I realized that Gon was serious. I looked at Kurapika and Leorio, and they seemed serious as well.

I burst out laughing. "You really are a riot! You guys are the first not to laugh or get all scared!"

"We wouldn't get scared." Kurapika said gently. "No matter what your origins are, we know you aren't going to massacre a thousand people," he added on jokingly at the end.

"Yeah!" Leorio agreed. "Besides, I've always known there was something shifty about you." He patted my head.

I smiled. I can trust them after all. . .
