"Ne Yugito-sensei, did we do the right thing?"

"Who knows? All I know is that Kite won't lose. None of us will."

"You better be right."

"I will. Trust me."

I leaned against the trunk of one of the trees that formed the barrier of NGL. It had been five days since we left Kite. Yugito sent a messenger bird back to Kumo to request reinforcements. Ever since we got back, we've been camping out on the border of NGL to wait for reinforcements.

When Gon woke up, he freaked out for a few minutes, begging Yugito to let him go back, but regained his composure knowing it was for the best. He gave me a small 'thank you' and hasn't spoken to any of us since.

But can you really thank me for abandoning your teacher?

"They're here," Yugito said, interrupting my thoughts.

I looked up to see Morel, Knov, Knuckle and Shoot, some of the top shinobi in Kumo. Then I gasped as I saw who was trailing behind them.

Issac Netero. A former member of the Kinkaku Force. It was said that his powers were almost, if not, on par with the Raikage's.

Chimera Ants. That's what they identified the monsters that attacked us as. Yet, is it possible, even for one of the strongest shinobi to defeat that monster?

Yugito's POV:

I watched Gon's dark gaze as he observed Neferpitou healing Komugi. I felt Matatabi stir inside of me, warning me that nothing good was coming out of this. I know, I answered, but there's nothing that can stop him now. It was a complete silence, punctured only by the disturbing clicking sounds of Doctor Blythe at work.

After a few moments, Killua suddenly turned around. It was Meleoron.

"Yugito, Knuckle and Shoot need help dealing with Youpi," Killua muttered.

"You can handle him by yourself, right?"

"Yeah. See you."

I watched him disappear under Meleoron's God's Accomplice. And then there were two. . .

I waited for a while, staring intently at Pitou making sure that he wouldn't do anything. That's when I realized that nobody was watching him as closely as Gon was. He'd been through so much with Kite, and now with Kite in his condition, I couldn't even imagine the agony he was going through right now. And Killua, I could tell from the look in his eyes that he was feeling much more hurt from Gon than he had let on. I closed my eyes, remembering the times when they always goofed off and never took missions seriously. And now, now I wasn't sure if they'd be able to do that again.

All of a sudden, a heard an explosion go off, much too close to be Killua and Youpi, Netero and the King, or Morel and Pouf. I looked over to Gon and Pitou. They hadn't moved a inch, not seeming to have heard anything.

I took a step towards the exit, wondering whether I should leave or not. Gon will be fine, I assured myself, I'll be back before a hour's up.

I dashed out of the palace, and into the forest where a couple of trees were still on fire. From the tree where I was hiding, I spotted a blackened corpse, a Chimera Ant from the looks of it, but what bothered me was what blew it up. Surely it hadn't suicide-bombed itself.
