As I settled into my new job, life began to take on a new routine. Every day was full of new challenges and opportunities, and I found myself loving the work more and more with each passing day.
But while I had left the small town behind, I couldn't completely forget the dark memories that still haunted me. And sometimes, in the quiet moments of the day, I would find myself thinking back to the old house, the hooded figures, and the ghostly whispers.
One day, as I was sorting through a box of old artifacts, I came across a strange object. It was a small, metallic device, with a strange symbol etched onto its surface.
As I picked it up, a sudden feeling of dread came over me. It was like the darkness that I had left behind in the small town had followed me here.
Before I could even react, I felt a cold hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see a hooded figure, his face obscured by the darkness of his hood.
"We've been waiting for you," he said, his voice low and menacing.
Before I could even react, the figure lunged at me, and the room was consumed by darkness.
When I woke up, everything had changed. I wasn't in my office anymore, but in a different room, a room that was dark and cold. I couldn't see anything, but I could hear voices whispering in the darkness.
I couldn't understand what they were saying, but I knew it wasn't good. The dread I had felt earlier was now a full-blown terror that consumed me.
Suddenly, I saw a light coming towards me, and I could hear footsteps moving in my direction. I tried to stand up, but my arms and legs were bound to the chair.
As the light approached, I could see the hooded figure from earlier, alongside several others. They were all holding strange, metallic devices that glowed with an ominous light.
"We've been waiting for you," the figure said again, a twisted smile on his face.
And then, everything went dark.
