After clearing the air with M that night, when Sila and Apo got home, they also had the chance to reconcile with each other. Because neither wanted anything left to fester and cause issues in the future.
Apo apologized to Sila for losing his patience that day. Sila also apologized for not being more prudent in how he acted, which may have caused M to get the wrong idea and cross relationship boundaries too easily.
That night ended with both feeling relieved in the warm, familiar bed that they knew well.
The hectic morning began as the sun peeked over the horizon. Many cars started congesting the roads, packed bumper to bumper in every direction. Even short trips took over an hour.
Car horns blared periodically. The hot air shimmering above the road surface nearly made you forget it was 9 a.m., as the glaring sunlight felt more like mid-afternoon when the sun had passed overhead.
Apo and Sila had to grit their teeth and endure the traffic jam for a long time before finally arriving at the studio, leaving them quite weary. And they had only just woken up and hadn't started work yet.
Sila walked inside the studio building, still nibbling on a sandwich, with Apo following behind him. As usual, Aunt Phorn was already there, cleaning up.
"Good morning, Aunt Phorn," Sila said, his voice muffled by the sandwich in his mouth.
"Hello, Sila," Aunt Phorn smiled.
Sila went to his spot behind the counter. Aunt Phorn separated to continue cleaning while Apo headed upstairs to his office. Kan, who had just arrived, was no different. She booted up her computer, ready to start work right away.
When class time drew near, kids and parents started trickling into the studio as usual, a repetitive scene that Sila and Kan found rather monotonous.
Squeak...
The sliding door opening caused Sila and Kan to glance up. A woman who appeared to be a capable, successful businesswoman, with an expensive designer handbag on her arm, walked straight to the front counter.
"Hello," Sila greeted.
"I'm here to see Mr. Apo," the woman stated.
"Do you have an appointment?" Kan asked since Apo's schedule was clear right now.
"No, it's rather urgent."
"I'll let Mr. Apo know then," Kan responded before heading upstairs.
Knock knock
The knock at his door made Apo, who was in the room, look up.
"Come in."
Hearing the response, the door opened, and Kan entered, walking over to Apo's desk and taking a seat.
"Someone's here to see you; no appointment."
"Who is it?"
"I don't know; I've never seen her before. She says it's urgent."
"I see, Send her up then."
Kan went back down to bring the woman up to Apo's office, arousing Sila and Kan's curiosity about why she had come. But the only sense they got was that it probably wasn't anything good.
They could tell from the aura she exuded...
"Hello," Apo greeted with a wai as the woman entered the room.
"Hello, Mr. Apo."
"What can I help you with?"
"Well, I'm the mother of Nano, M's friend."
