The vendors' voices that had been noisy since early morning kept echoing in Sila's ears as he got off the bus and arrived at the large fresh market near his condo. For a slight person like him, he didn't come to the chaotic fresh section very often because Apo didn't really like the messiness of that area.
Sila headed straight to the fresh pork shop that he frequented. As soon as he stopped in front of the meat display cabinet, he looked over the various cuts of pork in the fridge.
"What would you like today?" the shop owner asked.
"Hmm, let me think for a moment," Sila replied while tapping his chin. He thought about what he was going to cook today. "I'll take half a kilo of ground pork, please."
"Finely or coarsely ground?"
"Coarsely ground," Sila requested.
"Half a kilo of coarsely ground pork, yes?" the owner confirmed.
"Yes, and I'd also like half a kilo of pork neck," Sila added.
"Sure," the owner smiled and put the pork in ziplock bags.
"I'll come back to get them, thanks," Sila said with a smile before leaving the pork shop and heading to the dessert shop that he also frequented.
People might wonder if he had a sweet tooth. In fact, he didn't really care for sweets. But he wanted to buy some for Apo and Karn, who were dessert enthusiasts.
The chime rang when Sila pushed open the door and entered the shop. The display cases at the counter were filled with all kinds of sweets, making the tall man's eyes brimmed with temptations.
"What should I get?"
"Try the new pandan coconut cake. It just came out of the oven." The female part-timer beamed widely and approached the man who was pondering in front of the display.
"I'll take a slice of that," Sila said, pointing at the pandan cake. He then glanced around for other items. "I'll also take 4 maracuja tarts and 2 Thai tea tarts."
The server used tongs to put the pastries into a box according to Sila's order. She closed the box and put it in a paper bag before handing it over. "Here you go."
Sila reached for the bag with one hand and gave his credit card to the server with the other to pay for the purchase. He then headed out after getting his card back and putting it in his wallet.
With his long legs, Sila quickly walked back to the pork shop he had just visited earlier. The owner smiled when she saw him coming.
"Here for the pork?"
"Yes, here," She grabbed the ziplock bags containing the amount of pork Sila had ordered and handed them to him.
"Thank you," he said.
Sila dashed back home after finishing his shopping at the market. Shoes were quickly removed, followed by the familiar grunts and groans that were a regular part of his morning routine. Sila started sprinkling his rather limited sex appeal that had been honed over the years to please his beloved.
Because Apo always said no one could beat his home cooking!
Breakfast and snacks were swiftly prepared in tightly closed containers. Sila put them in an insulated bag, not forgetting to cut up fresh fruits into bite-sized pieces, and crammed them into another box.
Many would wonder if he's planning a picnic with Apo today.
But the truth is, today is Nano's MV shooting day. The good trainee that the studio had been meaning to debut It had been an immense headache for the entire studio leading up to this day, having to deal with not only Nano's ego but also his fierce mother.
