Karn threw the folder containing the documents he had just finished clearing into the cabinet and prepared to grab his bag to head home. But before he could take a step out of the studio, Apo's voice calling out stopped him first.
"Karn!"
"Yes?"
"Going home already?"
"Yes, bro, do you need anything?" Karn asked with a puzzled expression, eyebrows furrowed tightly together.
"Nah! I was just kidding," Apo said while waving his hand dismissively before continuing, "Let's go."
"You're not firing me, right?" Karn joked with a light laugh, wanting to make it sound funny to ease his own worries.
"Are you crazy? You've worked with me since school. I wouldn't fire you so easily!"
"Okay!"
After the conversation ended, Apo walked out, leading the way, with Karn following closely behind. The two headed to a chill cafe near the studio. Coffee and fruit soda drinks were ordered swiftly at the counter. Soon their menus arrived, and Apo and Karn took their drinks, walking over to an empty table.
"Ready?" Apo asked after sitting down comfortably.
"Yes," Karn nodded.
"So I'm thinking of not having you help with my work for a while," Apo stated.
"Huh!! Why bro? Did I do something wrong?" Karn's shocked expression was exaggerated for comic effect, making Apo almost crack up laughing.
"Nah, I'm just kidding with you."
"Damn, you scared me."
"Truth is, M's series is about to start filming, so I want you to go help take care of the kid on set," Apo explained.
"Oh, sure, bro."
"Yeah, just that. No big deal," Apo added, sipping his coffee.
"Then who will help you at the studio when I have to be on M's set?" Karn asked.
"Same as I said, Sila volunteered to help with your duties," Apo replied.
"Wow, such a good boyfriend." Karn joked and lowered his head to sip his drink.
"That's why I'm not worried. You just focus fully on taking care of M."
"Yes bro."
After discussing and agreeing about Karn's change of duties from formerly developing artists, helping Apo scout for promising kids to become studio artists, to now taking on the role of being M's personal manager, the two also talked a bit about M's filming schedule before parting ways.
--------- The Story of Water and Stone 2 ---------
Who would've thought that volunteering to help Apo in place of Karn would make Sila's life even more hectic than before? Usually having to prepare breakfast, work the front counter at the studio, do accounting, and accommodate parents and kids taking classes, he now also had to take on the duty of being Apo's assistant, coordinating schedules and appointments, and handling tons of paperwork that was more than Sila had expected.
But he had been fully willing to help from the start, so Sila didn't want to complain.
At least willingly assisting Apo was something he should be doing anyway.
His boyfriend, after all, if he didn't take good care, who would?
"Bro Apo has a meeting at 3 p.m. with the producer," Sila read the schedule on the iPad before informing Apo, who was clearing up work left over from yesterday.
