Unforgiving tragedy

chapter 9

I looked Mallory in the eyes and caressed the side of her cheek.

" I want you to find your way out. Ill stall them okay?" I slowly pushed the door open just enough for me to see.

"Zack?" Mallory whispered.

"Zack? Zack!" I whispered/yelled.

He looked at us both and made his way to the door. He snuck inside.

"Mallory?!? Why the fuck are you here!?!? I've been looking for you everywhere?!?" He wrapped his arms around his little sister. He held her tight and he looked at me.

"Emma? What happened?" Zack asked.

"There isnt time to explain! You need to get her out of here. Ill stall them okay? " I told them.

Zack picked up Mallory and we both snuck out the door. I went one way and Zack took Mallory the other. I went back to where Kaleb had stowed me away last night.

I walked up to the two big oak wood doors where the guards were still standing. They immediately opened them for me.

I nodded my head in a gesture of thanks. I made my way back to the bedroom where I figured Kaleb was.

"You came back baby." He snarled in my ear.

I spun around and looked him dead in the eye. "Yeah, but I didn't come back to be your baby." I my fist shot straight out hitting its target.

Blood poured out of his nose making him furious. He picked me up and slammed me against the wall. His grip on my throat tightened, but I didn't fight. He looked at me as I didn't fight for air. I just sat there waiting for everything to go black.

"Why aren't you fighting? I could kill you right now." He looked confused.

"Whats the point. Ive got nothing. I dont have family thanks to you. And every time Mallory'a big brother comes around I get sad. The people who adopted me, the dads name was zack. I miss him, but i left them so they werent in danger. So go ahead and cut off my air supply. Kill me. I already got her out." My shoulders slumped and my eyes closed as his grip got tighter.

I started seeing black dots crossing my vision. I knew it wouldn't be too much longer until my heart stopped.

All of a sudden the grip loosened and I fell to the floor. I took in a breathe of air and opened my eyes. I looked up and seen Zack crushing Kalebs wind pipe. Then, he put one hand on the top of his head and the other on his lower jaw and turned sharply.

I hear kalebs neck snap. It was the most deafening sound I've ever heard.
