If you didn't know, my English teacher is also my homeroom teacher. OMG... plot twist of the year! Anyways, I entered his class the same way I did this morning, and he also does his regular routine, always fistbumping every kid who ever entered his classroom. He tried to fistbump me, but I avoided it and walked past. He gave me a frown, but I ignored it and went straight to my seat, and got out my book. It was called, The Distant Mountains, which sounds boring to me. I mean, the book doesn't suck, but not something I would read in my free time. It was a historical fiction book. I just like pure fiction. Still, I needed to read it for class, so I began to read ahead of time. Without Mr. Repetto telling me too. Before I knew it, he told the class to get out their books and read to chapter 19. Most kids were probably at chapter 15, since they barely pay attention. I was at chapter 17, so that won't be a problem. After reading our class book, and doing the assignment, Mr. Repetto announces something.
"Class, I want you guys to get into your choice book groups. Please, and thank you."
Unfortunately, I forgot who was in my group. I thought I was going to be in some real trouble, but fortunately, Jayce reminded me.
"Where should we sit?"
"Who?" I said, startled.
"Umm, we're in the same group? We're supposed to sit at the same table."
"Oh."
We chose to sit at the back tables, so we would be able to get away with some talking. There was sitting Francis Bowman, and Nyx. Francis had black hair that had curls and waves and was longer than most boys. Actually, people sometimes mistake him for a girl. His hair basically reached his shoulders. Anyhow, I was glad I wasn't in the same group as August Olympia. With that thought, I actually looked around the classroom for him. I spotted him, stared at him, and he gave me a face. All was good. I think I freaked him out. Everything was good until Francis decided to interrupt it.
"Wait," Started Francis,
"Aren't we supposed to get a new book today?"
"Um, yeah!" I answered him.
"Okay then, what book do we get next?" Asked Jayce.
"How about... that one?" I pointed to a book.
"Huh–DUDE THAT'S HUGE!" exclaimed Francis.
And he was right. This book was the literal bible. It was the last of the Harry Potter book series, and it looked like it could be a thousand pages long. It seemed bigger than the dictionary. I'm surprised Potterheads don't see it as much.
"Ummm, do you think we could even finish that before the deadline?" pointed out Jayce.
"When's the deadline?" I asked.
"March 14th" answered Francis for him.
"Aw, don't worry about it. We'll finish it by then."
"We have 21 days."
"Well, we just have to hope," replied Jayce.
I then noticed that Nyx was just sitting there, silent the whole time. I also noticed that she had already got our books, and put them at our seats. We all headed over and sat down. We then started to read. I flipped through the pages with speed. I wanted to get this over with. Even though it was a fantasy book, I wasn't too interested in books that we were forced to read. Every once in a while, Jayce or Francis asked what page we were on. Because, well, they were bored. Somehow Nyx was always the fastest.
"What page are you guys on?" Jayce asked us.
"Hey, it's not a race... but I'm on page 36." Replied Francis.
