It would seem as though Gary had finally reached his dreams of owning his own bakery, or at least owning the closest thing to it. Using his own kitchen and van to serve his baked goods, it was one step closer than anything he could've imagined beforehand, relying on the individuals above him to constantly validate him and his passion.
However, even with this new accomplishment, nothing had made him happier than Marshall being on his side, his tunes being a constant reminder that someone was there supporting him constantly. It made him feel a sense of self satisfaction he'd only felt baking his Pastry Menschen. It seemed as though everyone around Gary had noticed his talent... even Beatrice Buttler would come around to congratulate the lad and sometimes even ask for the pastries she once resented.

After a long day of delivering and serving the masses, it was time to end the day, hit the hay even, it was that late! Gary drove Marshall to Fionna's place, they were planning a night of playing video games and just complete nonsense for the hell of it.
"Please don't stay up too late you two, you're out of your element." Gary said, his car window lowered to talk to his two companions.
"Nah man, it's been a while since we pulled a good ol' all nighter! It's not like we have anything to do tomorrow anyways!" Fionna exclaimed, wrapping her arm around Marshall's shoulder. She was wearing fluffy bunny pajamas with pink slippers.
"Yeah, chill out gare-bear. You know I'll call you if something happens." Marshall took a bite at one of the leftover gingerbread men.
Gary looked at them, eyes squinted. He knew the two for a while now but his worry always clouded up his mind. He looked up at Fionna's apartment building, spotting Cake at the window. She gave him a quick ecstatic wave, yelling something out from the closed window he could not understand. The pink haired fellow giggled and looked back at the two silly billies he had such care towards.
After a short exchange of waves of goodbyes, Gary drove off and possibly wondered if maybe it was himself he was so worried about. This new business he had was on his shoulders, it still felt like he needed people constantly. He had never felt this way before, surprisingly, so attached to what others are doing and all, but it all felt so familiar. He thought he was going crazy and tried to push back all those feelings and focus on the road.

Gary lived in the more secluded part of the city with more trees, more open road. That's because he owned a horse, a beautiful matte black horse with shining silver hair named Mono. Once Gary arrived home, he greeted his stallion with pats to the nose and head. The Inside of the secluded cottage in which the baking man lived was a mix of pink and white decor and furniture, basic stuff other than that. He would've decorated it to be a bit more mature if his little sister, Nelly, didn't live with him. Speaking of Nelly, he went to her room and saw her sitting on her bed drinking a juice box in her pajamas. This was normal for her, Nelly was a very simple child.
"You brushed your teeth? Had your dinner?" Gary asked.
Nelly nodded yes, making an audible sound, her sound for yes. Gary trusted his younger sister always, he knew she wouldn't be trouble if others weren't trouble to her. He went up to her bed and sat next to her.
"C'mon, you're getting older Nellsies. Do you still need stories to sleep?" He asked, tucking her in after she laid down. She nodded her head and grabbed one of her books from the side table, it was in German like all her other books.
Gary giggled, "You like this one, huh? I knew you would. The princess in this one is just like you, smart, kind, beautiful..." The book itself was called, "The Bubblegum Princess and The Dragon", a copy Gary picked up at the local library. He opened the novel and read it out loud to Nelly until she fell into a deep slumber.
A small kiss was planted upon Nelly's forehead by Gary, he walked out of the young girls room and shut the lights, making sure a creak of her door was open. He himself thought it was already too late to have any time to himself, so he got straight into getting to bed.
It was strange, though... no matter how much he scrubbed, how much he cleaned himself, he felt a sticky sensation. He laid in bed uncomfortably, at least trying to get a few winks of sleep. His alarm was set, 7:50 exact like always.

That next morning, he had found his whole body in pain, like he was actively being skinned alive. This was all at 8:30 as well, he must've slept through his alarm.
"Oh god! Nelly's bus!" Gary exclaimed, hopping out of bed.
To his surprise, there was a note on the kitchen island. It had messy 2nd grade handwriting, bad spelling, all the works. It stated that Nelly herself got ready and packed her own lunch, but Gary knew that by "packing her own lunch" she really just took those juice boxes she loved so much and left. He had no one to blame but himself really, but he didn't know how this could happen. The pain was still surging through him, his skin still feeling so sticky, but he was still half asleep and didn't know how to comprehend all this.
He stumbled to the bathroom, dropping the note. He needed to at least get ready for work, it was already 8:30 and he was running late, but when he was brushing his teeth all he tasted was sugar, pure sugar. He looked up into the mirror, the sugar waking him up a bit, and saw his two arms had pink blotches on them.
Gary put down the toothbrush hesitantly and touched these pink blotches, they were sticky, and weirdly stretchy. He pulled a piece off, which didn't feel painful at all, and for some reason sniffed it. It smelled like bubblegum.
