SARAH'S POV

It was a Monday morning, and I was getting ready for work. I was interning at one of the biggest publishing companies downtown, and it was only my second day at the office.

I didn’t want to be late, so I quickly prepared myself and stepped out of my room.

I had a flatmate, Emily. She was the sweetest person ever and always very helpful. Before I even came out, she had already made breakfast.

“You are such a lifesaver,” I said as I saw the food she prepared.

She smiled and replied, “What would you do without me?”

“Absolutely nothing,” I said, and we both laughed.

After eating, I hugged her goodbye and rushed out of the house, quickly taking a cab to the office.

On my way, I stopped at a coffee shop to get coffee. There was a queue, so I joined and waited patiently. Just when it was my turn to be attended to, a guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere and stepped in front of me.

Even though he was very handsome, tall, light-skinned, and had beautiful brown eyes, I was completely taken aback by his action. My frustration instantly kicked in as I watched him skip the line after I had been waiting for several minutes.

“That isn’t right,” I said firmly. “Just because you’re good-looking and wealthy doesn’t mean the world revolves around you.”

I continued, clearly annoyed. “It’s very rude and disrespectful to cut in front of people without asking or excusing yourself.”

“Excuse? From who, please?” he replied.

At that moment, I thought to myself that he was both rude and overly confident.

“Since you have no manners,” I said, “I don’t think I’ll let you get your coffee before me.”

“Really?” he asked.

“Yes, really,” I said with a smirk as I picked up the cup of coffee from the counter.

He just stood there watching me. Then, instead of arguing further, he turned to the attendant and said, “It’s fine, she can have it.”

I paid and left for the office.
When I got there, I saw Jenni—my first friend at the company. She was one of the nicest people I had met there. She greeted me warmly with a hug.

“How was your night?” she asked.

“It was okay,” I replied. “And yours?”

“It was short,” she said.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because I went to a party,” she answered, then started telling me all about it and how fun it was.

“Who goes to a party knowing they have work the next day?” I asked, surprised.

“I do,” she said proudly.

I gave her a sarcastic look, and she laughed.

“What? I’m just trying to have fun. You should come too. There’s a party tonight, and there are people I want you to meet. Besides, baby girl, you’re single—you need to go out more,” she said with a playful expression.

“I’ll think about it,” I replied.

“There’s nothing to think about. You’re coming,” she insisted.

She then asked, “How is your morning going?”

“Not fine,” I said.

“What happened?” she asked.

So I told her everything that happened at the coffee shop.

She burst into laughter. “Didn’t he at least ask for your number? Maybe to hook up later?”

I shot her a sharp look. “Do you think I’m joking?”

“I’m sorry, but it’s kind of funny,” she said. “That’s how some of these handsome guys with money  behaves—they think their looks and money  can charm anyone into doing whatever they want.”

“That’s exactly my point,” I said, still annoyed.

She tried to calm me down and told me not to let one bad morning ruin my whole day. Then she added, “That’s why you should come to the party tonight.”
I just smiled.

Before leaving, she said, “Oh, and the boss requested to see the new intern. That’s you.”

I nodded and headed toward his office.
I stood in front of the door, adjusted my skirt, and composed myself before knocking.

“Come in,” a voice said.
Just before entering, I took a deep breath and walked in.

The moment I stepped inside, I got the shock of my life—the man I had spoken to so rudely at the coffee shop that morning was my boss.
