chapter 3~the picnic

Whats wrong. Why didnt mum realise that i was trying to comfort her. She didnt even realise that i was there, it was like she was looking straight through me. She obviously didn't want to talk to me, so i decided that i would start walking home. When dad died mum could not make enough money to buy food and pay for petrol so the only solution was for us to sell the car. I didn't really mind when mum decided that we should sell it, actually i was for the idea because i thought it would give me more time to think. But after 4 years i know realise that its a bad idea getting rid of the car. Do you know how hard it is to walk from one side of Christchurch to the other?

As i was walking through the streets of the biggest city in the South Island of New Zealand i got the same attutude from people as mother gave me. The silent treatment. I said hello and goodmorning to every one that i saw , but no one seemed to notice me. It was like i was invisable. As soon as i got home shock hit me like bullet. The house was a bombsite, mum hadn't even bothered to shut or lock the door when she left, 'come on mum, i have valubles in here," i thought to myself. That was when i realised that something was defenatly wrong. Mum has this condition its kind of like O.C.D but not as extreme. What makes this picture all wrong is there is stuff everywhere, as if she was trying to get somewhere in a hurry.

I could stand to look at this mess and i realised that mum will clean it up the second she gets home. So i decided to go to Hagley Park and have a picnic by myself, it seems that no one is noticing me lately so i dont really care if i get wierd looks for sitting with myself.

After i had finished my romantic lunch with myself, i noticed this really cute guy walking towards me with his dog. I didnt see the point in waving because he was probably like any other ignorent person in this city. But then i realised as he walked passed that a smile stretched across his face, i guess that was directed towards me.
