After meeting Jana's family and their little heart to heart talk something changed, albeit small, in their relationship. Although Jana's incorrigible personality hasn't really changed, Dianna was finding it easier to tolerate her. They had transcend from tolerable to comfortable.
Jana yawns reading the morning paper as Dianna does the same only with a cup of coffee in hand. The knock on the door stops Jana, from the other side was not who she expected. Standing on her threshold is none other than her best friend since primary school Jake Johnson who's smiling brightly at her.
"Jake! What in...Why are you here?" Jana asks hugging Jake.
"Well, I heard my best friend got married" Dianna takes notice of the English accent tearing her eyes away from the paper to look at the man. "I must congratulate the person who made you settle down" Jake steps inside in full view to Dianna. "Even though it's all pretend" he adds, chuckling. Dianna assesses the man, he was about 6'4" tall, well-built body, pale complexion and light brown hair. He was by far the most handsome guy she's seen.
"How'd you know about the whole deal?" Jana walks to the couch and sits down. Jake chuckles.
"My dear friend, must I remind you of the sources I have all over the world?" he says smugly.
"And by sources you mean Emily" Jana mutters.
"Yes" Jake says unfazed. "So she called me up and as your best friend, I feel offended you did not invite me" he feigns hurt which Jana rolls her eyes to. "And you must be the fake Mrs Kuran. I am so sorry on behalf of my best friend for dragging you into such vile situation" Jake says shaking Dianna's hand.
"Vile? Really? You're suppose to be my best friend" Jana scoffs.
"And as your best friend, I should warn your 'wife' how hard to handle you can get"
"Trust me, I learned that the first time we spent together" Dianna answers for the first time since Jake arrived. "Vile is the right word to use"
"Wow, I'm impressed." Jake smiles broadly. "I like her" another eye roll from Jana. "Oh and I also heard you stopped going to the gym so, go get your gym clothes on and meet me in my car 5 minutes." With that Jake left leaving Jana to stare at the spot her best friend just vacated. Shaking her head slightly, the actress moves to go change into her gym clothes and half an hour later she finds herself in her usual gym with Jake.
"Damn J. I gotta hand it to you, she's a keeper" Jake says getting on the treadmill.
"Jake, she's just doing this for her career and for me to have a clean image again" Jana starts her cycling. "Beside she's not my type"
"Oh I beg to differ. She is exactly your type" Jake takes the daggers being sent to him by Jana's famous glare. "You always wanted to find someone who can take your crap and still be with you. This woman is doing just that. She's hot, beautiful oh and did I mention smart and intelligent? She's perfect for you J" happy to see the reaction of his best friend he continues "and I bet she's a good cook" Jana stops her workout, pondering Jake's words.
"I mean even if hypothetically she's my perfect one, she will never like me anyway. I've been nothing but incorrigible" Jana rolls her eyes at the word. "She deserves someone better" she finishes somberly. Jake stops his running to look at Jana.
"You really do like her" he says casually. He knew that look all too well, he knew Jana likes Dianna maybe not love yet but she'll get there.
"What? No, no, no, no! That's crazy. You're crazy" Jana lies poorly.
"You may be a good actress J but you are a bad liar. Your voice gets high when you do so" Jake points out.
"It does not!" Jana says and much to her dismay her voice went up and Jake just laughs. "Fine, fine! I may have certain feelings for Dianna but this stays between us" she says firmly.
"But-"
"Jake" she glares.
"Come on-"
"No!"
"Why not give it a shot?" Jake insists.
"This stays between us Jake" Jana says through gritted teeth.
"Okay" he says deflatedly. "You're no fun" he adds going back to his workout. Jana sighs before starting her own workout as well.
