One Year Later
Jana laughs at the silly argument Emily and Jake are having. Why silly you wonder? Here's why.
"No Em. I am telling you red wine is way better than white" Jake argues. Now you see? Two grown ups arguing over which wine is better, white vs red. Really, Jana wonders if Jake and Emily are two teenagers trapped inside an adults body.
"No Jake. White is way better than red" Emiy argues back making Jana shake her head as she listens to the two argue. Jake then turns to her, eyes blazing with determination.
"Jana, which do you prefer? White or red?" he asks getting an exasperated sigh from the woman.
"Honestly guys? I don't see the difference" she tells them honestly. Both their jaws slack at her answer making her laugh even more.
"How dare you say that?" Jake exclaims overdramatically. Jana just rolls her eyes.
"Look as much as I'd like to help you sort out this huge dilemma over wine, I have to go see Joaquin, he's been bugging me to go and visit him" Jana stands up from her place on the couch.
"You do owe the man a visit you know. You've been busy with the new talents lately" Emily says smiling at her.
"Yeah..well see you two later" Jana responds before shutting the front door and driving to her favorite bar.
"Ah there she is. My favorite customer" Joaquin, a 50-year-old Puerto Rican greets the former actress as she walks into the bar.
"You say that to every customer Joaquin" Jana teases taking a seat on the bar stool. Joaquin laughs heartedly at the woman.
"Well I mean it when I say it to you" Joaquin winks getting a laugh out of Jana. A year ago Jana decided to retire from acting and became the managing director instead of her family's agency for new actors. The news surprised everyone but Jana didn't mind them. She's happy enough with her career right now she even went home to Japan to visit her grandparents.
"So, how's work?" Joaquin asks giving Jana her usual drink.
"Fun. Found new talents, I do hope they'd make it" Jana says thanking the man before taking a sip of her ice cold drink.
"Good to know you're doing great" the bartender says genuinely. Joaquin is a close friend of Jana's family and has been a father figure to Jana especially when her mom died.
"How have you been Joaquin?" Jana asks genuinely concern of her friend's health.
"I feel as young as any of you young people" Joaquin winks tending to some customer before turning back to the woman. "Heard about that lady friend of yours?" he asks seriously. Jana knows who he was talking about.
"Jake told me she's working on another film with Tim" Jana shrugs smiling down on her drink. "I'm glad her careers sky rocketing" she adds.
"Well you're stupid for letting her go"
"I guess. She deserves better than me anyway Joaquin. I was a wreck" Jana says somberly before feeling a pain on her head, Joaquin did use to hit her when she was being stupid.
"You are not a wreck Jana. What would Lizbeth say if she hears you say these things about yourself" he pats her head. "Kiddo, you only find true love once and you should never let it go. Liz would've said the same thing to you if she was still here with us" Jana smiles sadly at Joaquin but doesn't say anything back, Joaquin knows she was pondering his words and lets her be, tending to his other customers.
