A most important mission

"Sam! Sam, wake up!"

Sam groans and turns over in bed. His head was killing him, but Alex's urgent tone implores him to open his eyes. Alex looks relieved when he does.

"Morning! One told me to get you awake, apparently there's something important he needs you for?"

Sam groans again. It's always a bad sign when One wants him to do something. Often it will be a shitty job, or something disciplinary. Considering his behavior yesterday he's assuming it's the latter. Begrudgingly he gets up and gets changed.

"Don't wander too much, okay Alex?" He can see Alex grinning in his peripheral at the use of his name. "I don't want anyone causing you trouble okay?"

"Sure, I'll stick around! Good luck with whatever One wants!" Alex grabs a book from his little shelf and sits cross-legged on his bed.

"Thanks-" Sam starts, opening the door to head out. "I'll probably need it."

He makes his way through the now busy hallway, catching glares from his fellow soldiers. He doesn't really look at any of them, he's never cared much for them in the first place. He's looking around in hopes to spot Damien around, but no luck. When he finally gets to One's office he looks around disappointedly, wishing he could have at least waved to the guy before starting his shitty day. Sighing, he opens the door. One is standing there at the side of the desk, and the general is sitting behind the metal table. Sam eyes them both from the door.

"Come now Thirteen, show some respect. The general has decided to grace you with his presence." One spits out. Sam just sighs and walks over, dripping down on the chair in front of the desk.

"Morning sir." Is all he says. The general raises an eyebrow, but seems to find it sufficient. One doesn't.

"Thirteen, you know who this is don't you? Show a little more-"

"That'll be quite fine B-01." The general interjects. His voice is low and calm, and he speaks in no urgency. Sam finds it frustrating sometimes to be punished by someone who talks so slowly. One looks over surprised before the man continues. "It is more than I expected, it'll suffice. Now B-13, the reason why you're here today..."

He trails off, shuffling through some papers until finding the one he wants. He places it in front of Sam.

"Is this. Please read at your leisure."

Sam eyes him again, and then the paper. He picks it up and skims through it.

...Reports of rift energy throughout the ward...
Perpetrator of such an act not yet located...
Suspected demons, narrowed down to a list of several personnel. All must be investigated thoroughly, and action taken immediately.
Personnel in questioning:
Cally
Adam
Seth
Eloise

Sam stares at it for a second before looking back up.

"... so there is a demon here? And they think it's one of these people?"

"Correct."

"So... what's my job here?"

B-01 stands quietly, an air of hatred focused on Sam. Sam doesn't spare him a glance, and he can tell it's making him all the more angry. The general finishes organizing the papers and places them neatly in front of himself.

"Well that'll be to kill the demon soldier, that's what you're made for isn't it?"

"Kill... but which one is it then?"
