The way of water has no beginning and no end,

My mother says that the day I was born was overcast, the sky weeping. But the moment she saw me, the clouds parted to reveal the sun shining on Eywa's world. The ocean stopped its movement for a single moment. All at once the world was quiet.

The Metkayina sang, lifted me to the sun. My first memory is light, everlasting and beautiful.

The sea is around you and in you. The sea is your home before your birth and after your death,

My father says the day I first fought was glorious, the sun beaming, the ocean thriving, the trees swaying effortlessly in the wind. But the moment the first drop of blood was drawn, the clouds shrouded the light. It was that day that my father began to realize my capabilities. The raw, animalistic drive for slaughter held me—the mark of a great hunter.

Our hearts beat in the womb of the world. Our breath burns in the shadows of the deep,

The day I met Se'pahya, The Great Ray, was one of sorrow. An argument with my siblings, one of stupidity in hindsight, had angered me so much that I sought to the sea for consolation. Deep beneath the surface, past where the Ilu swam and children played, as a mere child I swam past it all. I had been a few miles out from the barriers of our village, if I hadn't been so clouded by frustration I would have been afraid. A being, a stingray beast of unimaginable size swam out from the horizon. The Great Ray was something of stories and what I perceived as fiction...but there she was. Awestruck by her etherealness and silent wisdom, I stayed still. Our gazes met and our bond began.

The sea gives and the sea takes.

When I was thirteen cycles, a ceremony was held for me.

Se'pahya had shown me on one of our explorations, an island very south of Awa'atlu had been attacked. Children and women were slaughtered. Blinded by rage and sorrow, I fought with the village. I'd slain one of the Skydemons. My first victory for the people. The skydemons left and never reached Awa'atlu, something that to my knowledge, I had been apart of.

I remember my mother, her touch painting my skin with the markings of a warrior. The red paint was much like the blood of war's victims. That day of the ceremony, I was given the honor of 'tuvom tsamsiyu'. The greatest warrior of the Metkayina.

Water connects all things, life to death, darkness to light

Overtime, I became more enthralled with the sea. The sea felt like Eywa, it felt like home. I liked seeing the Ilu, the coral, especially the Tulkun. When I was fourteen cycles, one night, I had been called to the ocean. Something within me, it drew me into it. Past the waves, deep within the waters. I found myself in the Cove of The Ancestors, before Eywa's spirit tree. Connected to  her, I saw light. Our great mother and the sea as one. She blessed me that day, and I will be forever in her debt.
