Nicole giggled, turning around every few steps as you chased her through the corridors. Your lips curved into a smile, seeing the large doors not too far away.

The sound of your laughter echoed in the empty corridors as you ran, the cool stone walls brushing against your fingertips. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through your side, and you stumbled, waiting for Nicole to turn around. Your breaths became harsher, leading you to lean against the wall.

"Merlin! Are you alright?" Nicole's eyes were wide with worry as she walked to you.

"I'm wonderful," you grinned, shoving past the flabbergasted blonde towards the Great Hall.

"That was a dirty trick, Y/n!" she shouted from behind as she attempted to catch up. "I thought you were hurt!" Her voice echoed in the empty corridors, filled with a mix of annoyance and relief.

You shrugged and picked up your pace the closer the doors became. Groans echoed from behind you, the blonde dragging herself to the doors. "That was so cheating," she grumbled as you held open the door.

"And a false start isn't?" you quipped, shutting the massive doors behind you.

"Oh, piss off!" Her hand brushed the air, spinning to face you with a grin.

You matched her expression. "Don't look now, but Theo is looking this way."

Her grin fell, her eyes shooting wide. "Hide me." She ran her fingers through her golden locks, shielding her face from him.

You shook your head, resting your arm over her shoulder, walking her to the table. "Just breathe; he won't hurt you."

She closed her eyes, focusing on her breathing. She peeled her eyes open as you arrived at the table.

"Nicole!" Theo's voice was filled with relief as he hopped off the bench, swapping places with you. "Are you alright? I tried looking for you, but you had just... disappeared."

She forced a chuckle. "I-I um," she turned back to you, which you waved on. "I'm alright."

A deep sigh fell from your brother's lips as he hugged Nicole, his arms wrapping around her with a palpable warmth. A small smile grew across your lips as you watched their embrace but quickly fell the moment someone spoke behind you.

"I see you've cleaned up."

You bit your tongue, refusing to answer the irritating blond behind you.

"Aw, come on~ I know you're happy to see me," Malfoy cooed as he spun you to face him.

"I would quite literally want to see anyone but you." Your eyes burned into his, challenging him in front of his friends.

His lips curled into a menacing grin. "Well, that's too bad." He grabbed your wrist, pulling you out of the Great Hall.

"Bloody hell, Malfoy! Let go!" Your free hand slapped his nearest arm, hoping he'd release his hold.

His hold tightened. "No." His smirk had fallen, a distant look now in his eyes.

"Want me to scream?" You raised your eyebrows at the blond with a knowing smirk. "Because you know I will," you whispered.

"Damnit, Y/n. Would you shut up, please?" His voice was different, not boastful or cynical rather... broken. He let go of your wrist now that you both were away from other students.

"What is this about? And could you please stick to one personality?" You crossed your arms, leaning against the stone wall.

His eyes drifted, not to you or anyone else... rather memories. He was fighting with something, fighting not to tell you. His hands rested on your cheeks, turning you to face him. Usually, you would've interjected, but this seemed different. He closed his eyes, sighing heavily. "I'm sorry."

Furrowing your eyebrows, you responded, "For?"

He bit his tongue, locking his eyes on yours. "This." He crashed his lips into yours. You stood frozen, standing in shock from reality, but you didn't pull away. Deep down you didn't want to. The kiss wasn't lustful, rather full of untold love that couldn't be shared through words. He pulled himself away, swallowing harshly.

"Draco?"

He shook his head, tears pooling in his silver eyes. "I'm so sorry." With that, he ran off. You wanted to chase him, force him tell you what he was hiding, but that kiss evoked something in you—feelings you forgot you had.

A groan left your throat while you shut your eyes. Two hours until detention.

Two hours to think through the past two minutes.

Two hours before truth.

The past two hours had been spent sitting in solitary with your unwanted thoughts. Why had he kissed you? Why did you let him? Why did he run away? These questions were on a loop inside your head as you walked to your 5:00 detention. You knocked on the open potion's door, announcing your arrival, causing Snape to look up.

"Ms Nott."

You nodded and sat at your poor excuse for a desk. A minute or so later, he walked in.

"Five minutes past, Mr Malfoy," Snape grumbled, motioning to the seat beside you. Draco nodded, sitting as far from you as he could at your small "table."

"What's with you?" you mumbled, leaning towards him. He looked like he was about to answer when Snape interrupted.

"You two have made a mess of my classroom. You will be cleaning it," he paused and held out his hands, "without wands."

"Professor, we'll be here all night!" Malfoy shot up from his desk, glaring at the professor.

"I'm sorry, Mr Malfoy." Snape reached his hand out again as Draco grumbled, reaching into his pocket for his wand. "Ms Nott, your wand, please." You sighed, reaching into your robe to pull out your wand and begrudgingly placed it in the raven-haired man's grasp. "I will be back at eight; do not disappoint me."

"Yes, professor," you and Draco responded emotionlessly and began cleaning. This was gonna be a long three hours.
