"So how are things going between you and that Francois guy?" Keira asked.

Kyle seemed not to be affected by what Keira said. Maybe he doesn't fancy me anymore. I felt a tinge of sadness that Kyle's crush for me has now gone and pass. He was the first and only guy who took a liking towards me.

"I knew there was something," Keira said after I failed to answer. She was nodding her head. She seemed ecstatic at the thought of me and Francois as an item.

"No Keira! Nothing's going on," I said on my defense, a bit louder than I should, "we are just friends."

"He's not your boyfriend?" That was Kyle looking at me intently probably thinking I was lying.

I turned towards him and pinched his cheeks. "No, he's not. He's just a friend. why, Kyle? Are you jealous?" I asked.

He looked away. I couldn't understand the expression which crossed his face.

'Was it worry?  What on earth would he be worried about?' I shifted my gaze to her mom asking for explanation.

"Okay, since Kyle here is speechless, I might as well tell you," Keira attempted to hide the amusement on her voice as she shook her head and faced me, "Kyle is breaking up with his future girlfriend. And by that I meant you," she pointed to me, a grin on her lips, "he's got a girlfriend now named Trish. They're of the same age by the way." Keira gave her son a pat on his back while Kyle blushed the same way he used to do when being teased about me before.

"That's wonderful Kyle," I told him. "Were you worried that I might get mad?"

He nodded, still unable to look me in the eye. 'such a cute boy,' I thought.

"Dont worry Kyle. I will only get mad at you if you didn't bring her here to meet me," I gave him a reassuring smile. "And you better do it soon," I added.

He smiled back, "I promise I will." A peck on my cheek sealed his promise just as the door bell jingled.

"Guess who?" someone covered my eyes before I could even turn around.

I heard Sally and Keira giggled and I immediately knew who was behind me.

Plus, it's not like I expect anybody to visit me at the diner. Nobody in my family would. Well, there's my dad but he's miles away.

"Someone doesn't want me to take my hands off her," Francois teased when it took longer for me to reply. As usual, I spaced out again. I elbowed him which caught him off guard. He chuckled as he let go of me.

"Oww! Violent much?," he pretended to be in pain, "What the heck, I like it rough," his laughter became louder. I heard Sally and Keira laughed too.

"Be wary of the quiet little ones," Sally said to Francois, "they are the ones who are wildest in other ways if you know what I mean."

She winked at him making him laugh even harder even holding his stomach as if the laughter was causing him pain.

When I realized what Sally was insinuating, I felt blood rushed to my face.

"You are so red you look like an over-riped tomato!" he exclaimed pointing at my face. He's now hitting the table top with his hands while laughing hard. Sally was also in on it. I saw Keira and Kyle discreetly laughing too.

I felt all the customers at the diner looked at me. If there's one thing I hate the most it's being the center of attention. Specially if the attention makes me a laughing stock.

I quickly ran towards the door of the diner removing my apron and throwing it to the side before heading out. I didn't even realize I was crying.

"How could he?! Who does he think he is coming into my life and making a fool out of me?!" I was screaming in anger while kicking cans or any trash I could find.

"And he chose to do it in the only place I could find peace! Sure he, Alain and Charice or whoever can make fun of me at school but not here at Scotty's! This is my place! My Sanctuary! How did I let this happen?! Shit! Stupid Liz! Stupid!" I stomped repeatedly to the ground like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

"Damn it! I hate him a lot!"
