Nolan can't help the familiarity that surged through his veins, the floors of R.L.S Legacy's deck looked just like anything he could see in his grandfather's house, he could see a distinct reflection of himself on the floors as it proved on how shiny and squeaky clean it is. He could smell fresh polished wood, much to his bewilderment, a hint of laundry detergent and inhaled none of any dust everywhere unlike the creepy basement on his grandfather's house; he had no idea that moments later he would be one of the people who'd help the ship on its hygiene.
His eyes would continue to wander around the fascinating ship, all while his ears were filled with frantic crews and rants that the three other males had engaged themselves into, complaining about how they ended up in a kitchen work when in fact they had made this expedition happen (Delbert and Jim, mainly).
The girls were nowhere to complain anymore, not like they hadn't grown to be taught with such chores since they decided to show off to their mothers and wash some dishes when they're six. Their eyes would dart from one person to another as they throw some words of disappointment as a coping mechanism of being thrown in a kitchen work.
"Personally, Magnus, being in a kitchen work isn't that bad." Amaia scoffed, after the boy commenting about how tiresome it could be; in which made the boy raise an eyebrow and did a 360 to face the girl. "Well, not for me. I'd had enough with my job at my aunt's."
"You're aunt's bossy, and couldn't give you some rest. That's the exact reason you've told us." Briar reminded, only having to stop herself from showing how done she is as the boy only give her a whine that reminded her of that one spoiled cousin of hers that she both loathed and cared so much- halfheartedly, if you may ask. "Come on, Maggie-" Magnus groaned in annoyance at the nickname and turned his back to tail behind Delbert, they continued to walk to where Mr. Arrow could bring them. "-you have hands to be used for work, if you don't want to you'll just go wipe tables if you're not fond of cooking."
"I've got trauma, girl." Magnus retorted. "I'm not good at cooking, I even got our dorm almost on fire."
"It's because he put a spoon in the microwave." Amaia winced at the memory, vividly remembering how the smoke detector would go off and a faint explosion coming from the kitchen. She remembered getting out of their dorm room, only to see a microwave in pieces with Magnus grinning sheepishly, feigning innocence. Oh how she wanted to have someone getting punched square at their face just by looking at it. "I mean, who puts spoons on a microwave?"
"I don't know." Magnus replied defensively. "Same as who would eat watermelons dipped in salt." Amaia could feel herself offended at this as she scoffed. "Same as who would eat boiled eggs with nutella on it."
"Look who's talking with a microwaved strawberry."
"Not with your pickles and ice cream. What are you? My mom when she had those craving episodes when she's having my lil sis?"
"Gross." Briar gagged, trying to imagine how the combination would work and could feel her stomach churn oddly and in an unpleasantly. Nolan quietly had to stop himself from listening, his breakfast wanting to have a fresh air and Mr. Arrow on the back to only look at the two bickering teens weirdly.
"Come on, I already told y'all that I have mistaken the spoon as a tomato and was far too distracted to loo-" Magnus' words got cut off by a fake gag from Amaia.
"Ew, you eat cooked tomato?" Amaia shuddered, she wasn't to fond about the said fruit being cooked. She preferred it raw with cucumbers, something he had grown up with when she and her family wouldn't get proper viand to satisfy their hunger. "What's the matter with that?" Magnus asked in confusion, and same with happened earlier did Briar shook her head about how awful it must taste- she too, didn't liked cooked tomato.
