"Hello?",his hoarse voice came from the other side.
"Yeah?",she asked.
"I just wanted to inform you to come to KYY hospital as soon as possible",he said from the other side.
"What's wrong? Is ammamma okay?",she asked.
"Yeah, it's your.. Why don't you just come? I wouldn't call you unless it's an emergency right? Be here soon",he said and ended the call.
"But atleast tell me what happened? Hello?",that's when she realised he ended the call.
The nerve of this man, would the earth and sky meet if he says what's wrong? I have invigilation duty in the first place and who is admitted in the hospital?
He doesn't even know to convey information on phone call, what's the use of passing LLB in first class?
I hope whatever it is, it's not too serious!
I quickly took steps towards the head of the department's office and gently knocked on her door.
"Come in",her voice came and I opened the door to enter our hod ma'am room..
"What's wrong, Mridula? Shouldn't you be in invigilation duty now?",she asked in a strict tone.
"Yes ma'am, but I think there is an emergency! My.. My family just called and informed to go to the hospital. Can I please take a leave for today?",I asked mentally hoping she wouldn't ask any more questions
As much as I hate doing this, I don't have any option.
"What's wrong? Is everything okay?",she asked concerned.
"I am not sure ma'am. I have to go there and check on things to know what happened",I said.
"Alright, you may leave! Is there a substitute in your place?",she asked and I nodded.
Immediately taking leave from the college and picking up all the things from my cubicle. I rushed to the exit.
Mridula reached the hospital, she called her sister to know where she had to come.
"Hello Aaru? Where are you?",Mridula asked.
"Akka, are you here? Just a minute, I am coming. Stay near the reception",Aaradhana said and hung up the call.
What's with people and hanging up phone on her face without listening to her first it was him and now it's her sister.
She waited in the reception while tapping her leg, to ease her tension. This hospital wasn't giving off good vibes to her, and she just wanted her sister to arrive and go see what happened.
As she was waiting for her sister, the person she dreaded came into her view. She rolled her eyes and turned to the opposite side.
"Come",he said standing beside her, she didn't budge neither acknowledged his presence.
"Stop acting like a kid, Mridula! Do you know what happened?",he whisper yelled at her.
"I would know, if you had told me. It would have been better if you didn't tell me the whole thing as well but you, you decided to give me half information on the phone and keep me tensed. Do you fell happy seeing me like this?",she yelled back at him.
For a second Sharan prayed her to be a kid for few seconds so that he could smack her and tell her how serious the situation is.
"This isn't the time to fight, Mridula! YOUR FATHER HAD HIS SECOND HEART STROKE IN LESS THAN AN YEAR, HE IS IN THE ICU. Do you want me to tell you this on phone?",he said trying to put sense in her head.
Her legs felt like jelly, this wasn't the news she was expecting. He was all good when she visited them the last week, right? What happened over time?
"Wh.. Where is he?",the words came out like a mere whisper. Tears pooled in her eyes, but she made up her mind she wasn't going to cry.
Sharan started moving towards the second floor and she tried to catch up with his speed and be there as soon as possible.
Her father was fighting in the ICU and what was she doing here? Fighting with Sharan?
She wanted to scold herself for everything.
Finally when they reached the ICU, Aaradhana and her mother were waiting there.
Here is a glimpse of Mridula and Sharan!
You'll know more about them as the story proceeds.
I hope you liked it, stay tuned for the coming up chapter 1
