"Get down," my sister whispered to me. It was a dark night in Shawnee State Forest in Ohio and without the moon and my flashlight. My sister, Sally, and I have been looking for the Cat ever since he murdered our mother and father. Those red beady eyes haunted my nightmares for months. It has been 10 years since the tragedy and Sally and I have been taking things into our own hands, looking for the monster. We think that we may have found his hideout.
"On my mark...... Go!" I said as we raced to the dome. It wasn't much. It was an in-ground dome with metal all around the top. Sally opened the hatch and climbed down the ladder when she called me I descended the ladder. It was dark in the hole. I had to turn my lantern on to see two feet ahead of me. I flash my flashlight at my sister and got a new look at her. Her usually clean blond hair was caked with dirt and pulled up into a messy ponytail. She was wearing ripped camouflage jeans and a long sleeve white shirt that was covered in excrement. Her dark brown eyes were scanning the tunnel with such intensity a goldfish would be jealous.
"I'll go ahead and you stay back," I say and Sally nods. I shine my lantern down the tunnel and stealthily make my way toward the end. I stop when I see a door bolted shut. I call my sister from the hall and she gets to work opening the door. When she finishes I open the door and step inside.
I was greeted by metal walls on all sides. Rust around the edges and an undone floor.
"There's nothing here. I guess he left us again," I said to my sister as we turned to leave the room. I stepped out of the room and when I stepped on a rock it went into the ground. Then, the room exploded.
"RUN," my sister yelled. We rushed to the way we came in. I let my sister climb up first, then I quickly climbed up as the tunnel exploded.
