While I was at the truck stop I listened to the news.

There was another murder today. A 37 year-old woman killed herself in the kitchen of her house in Albany, New York. She was found dead on her floor by her co-worker at 7:30. There are no witnesses on the matter but sources believe that this is connected to the large string of murders that have happened over the last 10 years. I'm Steven Bureau giving you your morning news.
I didn't stick around to find out the rest. I had figured out the pattern, I knew where the Cat was going next. Quickly I pay for the food, just a few granola bars, and ran back to the base where my sister was wrapping rope around her bag. As soon as she began to speak, I told her the news and she stared at me, waiting for me to continue.
''Remember that book we had as kids? 3,000 places to see?'' I asked her.
She replied with, " You made me test you so that you could memorize the entire book."
"Exactly. After the Cat left, I took the book with me to the orphanage. It's currently sitting on my nightstand at home. All of the places that the Cat has hit are in the book. The next place the Cat will hit is Springfield, Illinois.
Sally looked at me then said, "We have to get to Springfield. Fast."
"What we have to do is get back to Ms. Fairchild's house. She'll be worried that we didn't head to her house any sooner," Ms. Fairchild has raised us ever since we ran to her house that night at the orphanage and she believes that we should be home two days after they leave. It was the third day and I can already hear her complaining.

"Where are those kids? They should've been here yesterday!" Ms. Fairchild hollered as Sally and I walked in the house, her fiery red was pulled back into a loose sock bun. "Oh! There you are. I was worried sick. Why weren't you here yesterday?"
I was about to speak when Sally quickly responded with," We are so sorry, Ms. Fairchild. We ran into some," She hesitated. "Complications."
Ms. Fairchild looked at us from head-to-toe, her big green eyes looking everywhere, "I can see that. Well hurry up and take a shower. Dinner's at 6." Sally and I quickly rushed up the stairs of Ms. Fairchild's suburban row-home and we entered our rooms. My room was painted dark blue and black furniture on the sides. In the corner is a small twin sized bed with dark green blankets not folded. On my nightstand is the picture of my family before the tragedy, it includes Sam, my mom, and my dad. It was the day that we went to the beach. The memory is painful now that my parents are dead.
I brushed it off and took a shower after my sister left the bathroom. When I came out I had five minutes until dinner so I decided to get my sister and we would head down the staircase.
