Spencer's POV
"Hey babe. What's up?"
I turn around to see Amanda leaning against my locker batting her eyes. It was already Tuesday, memorial day weekend had gone by so fast and the guys and I actually finished our project for Jones' class.
"Nothing much. It sucks to be back in school, this weekend went by too fast." I said.
I noticed I was walking down the hallway looking for something, but I have no idea what. Then it came back to me, the girl.
"So what do you think?" Amanda said interrupting my thoughts. The whole school thought we were a thing and I mean it made sense, I was the co-captain of the soccer team and she was the captain of the cheerleading squad.
As I was walking, this one girl caught my eye, her long blond hair and her brown eyes seemed familiar to me, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Spencer, are you even listening to me?" Amanda said stepping in front of me making me stop.
"Of course I am." I lied.
I mean Amanda was great, she was pretty and fit, but she was only good for one thing, bed. She isn't funny and all she cares about is being healthy and going to the gym. She doesn't even go on dates with me anymore. I should leave her on the curb and just take the next girl that's waiting in line for Spencer Matthews.
She grabbed my hand and took me to our homeroom. Everyone was talking about what they did over memorial day weekend. I spent Saturday and Sunday practicing and Monday I spent on the beach with Ryan and Parker. We picked up some chicks, of course.
Since our homeroom was also our first period, everyone got to their assigned seats.
I looked up from my phone and thee she was, the same girl I saw in the hallway this morning. She walked in with one of her friends, Alex I think her name is. Amanda walked up to her and said something and laughed. The girl also said something back which made Amanda's mouth make an 'o' shape. Amanda strutted back to her seat and sat down with a huff.
I was about to ask Amanda who she was talking too when the announcements came on.
"Good morning students of West High. Our end of year school dance for our underclassmen is this Saturday, make sure to buy your tickets! And don't forget the theme is a masquerade ball!"
Oh yeah, the school dance. Those were always free tickets to a hotel room if you know what I mean. I hadn't asked Amanda yet, but it was obvious we had to go together.
The announcements were over and Mr. Johnson started the lesson.
While I was taking notes, a piece of paper fell on my desk. Without being too obvious, I opened it and it was from Amanda and it said 'My house after school?'
I looked at her and smiled and she smiled back. I turned around and continued writing down notes.
When the bell rang, I was putting my stuff in my bag when I heard a quite 'Shit' escape someone's mouth. I turned around to see the blond girl and her stuff was everywhere, Amanda was laughing so hard she was holding onto her stomach. I tried to go help her but Amanda pulled my arm and said, "Leave her Spencer, she can do it by herself," and dragged me out of the classroom.
Max's POV
"Shit" I said when all of my stuff went everywhere on the floor. All I could hear was Amanda laughing and I looked up to see Spencer. I didn't even bother to ask for help because I know a dickhead like him wouldn't even think about it. And just as I thought, I saw him and Amanda walk out of the classroom together. Shocker. I mean they were perfect for each other, prick go well together with pricks.
I gathered my stuff and walked out of the classroom. Alex was nowhere to be seen because her next class was in the science building across the school. I walked to my next class and as soon as I sat down I opened my phone to see Alex had texted me.
"Hey, can I come over to your house afterschool today? I need help on my Pre-Cal homework."
"Yeah, definitely." I texted back.
Not to brag or anything, but I am quite the math whiz.
I dreaded the next forty five minutes until the bell rang and it was time for lunch. I met up with Alex and we walked into the cafeteria and got our lunches and sat down at the 'mixed' table.
Here's the thing, at West High, there are categories of tables to sit at. There's the jock table where all of the varsity football players sit at, the nerd table where all of the nerds sit at, the music table where all of the kids from chorus and band sit at, and the mixed table where the kids who didn't have a category sit at. Alex and I sit at this table. Today was different though because Hannah came over and sat with us.
"Hey guys, mind if I sit here?" she said.
"No, go ahead." I said
"Thanks." she replied
"So, are you guys going to the dance?" Hannah asked with a smile growing on her face.
"Yeah, good luck trying to get that one to go." Alex said pointing to me.
"Hey, look I don't go to dances because they're not really my thing." I defended.
"Max, let's be real here, most things aren't your thing." Alex smugly said.
"Okay, if it makes your hearts happy, I'll go." I gave in.
"Yay! Okay so do you guys want to go downtown to go dress shopping?" Hannah asked.
"Yeah, fine." I said stabbing my salad furiously.
Amanda came up and before I knew it, spaghetti was all over me.
"Oops, sorry I didn't see you there." she said laughing to her friends.
All eyes were on us and there was no way I was going to back out from this. I go Hannah's cup of chili and when Amanda was walking away, I poured the whole cup on her head.
"AAAAHHHHHHH" Amanda screeched.
"That's what you get for messing with me you bitch." I answered
"You skank, this is a designer shirt!" she said
"Not anymore!" I screamed over my shoulder as I walked out of the cafeteria.
I walked straight to the gym and opened my volleyball locker. I got one of my practice shirts out of my bag and threw it on the floor. I took my now stained shirt and put my practice shirt over it. I noticed my hair had some spaghetti sauce in in so I put it in a pony tail.
The bell rang and as soon as I was walking out of the locker room I slammed into a body. It made me step back a bit and when I looked up it was Spencer.
"Sorry." He said
"It's fine" I said keeping my head down and walked around him.
As I was walking away he said "Hey, girl, you've got guts to stand up to Amanda like that, you know she can ruin your life right?"
I turned around and said "Yeah, but if I don't stand up to her, then where does the fun go?"
He shot me one of his signature smiles, and I felt my heart beat faster. Wait, what is going on. My palms are sweating, what the hell does this mean. What is my body doing? Whatever it is it needs to stop. And just like that I walked away and to my next class.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hey guys!
