"mr sung could you stay behind after this class please."
it had been a long day of back to back classes for hanbin. but all of it was worth it with yerin by his side, and they were able to get by without any arguing.
yerin turned to look at him, confused, but he could only shrug, also not knowing what he was being called behind for.
"i wanted to see if everything was okay. you're our star student but lately your grades have been slipping," the teacher said as soon as the last student had left the classroom.
"in your last test your ranks dropped from 1st to 15th in the class."
holy fuck. hanbin had felt that the last test he had done was not his greatest performance, but he wasn't expecting this.
"yeah there's just been some stuff going on lately, that's all."
"anything you would like to talk about? i can always lend a listening ear," and as sweet as the offer was, hanbin knew he couldn't take it.
how would he explain to his professor that the reason for his slipping grades was because of a certain dark haired girl who sat next to him.
how would he explain that the thought of being with yerin kept him up at night, causing him to miss out on some good sleep before the test.
how would he explain that the student council that he only joined for her had became so time consuming, particularly because he was so concerned with impressing her.
"it's just some family stuff. i won't let it happen again," he reassured her, and although she wasn't completely satisfied she gave him a smile.
"well i would suggest maybe getting some help from one of your peers. in case it's hard for you to do it on your own for the time being," she responded as she returned to her desk, starting to pack her things.
hanbin nodded, thanking her before he left the classroom, the noises his stomach was making reminded him that it was finally time to eat.
opening the door, he lifted his arm to stretch, about to turn left but almost jumped out of his skin at what he was seeing in front of him.
"yerin?" hanbin was surprised to see her standing outside, playing with her fingers.
he had assumed she would be long gone by now, but here she was.
"i was just seeing if you're alright. you're never normally called behind," she pushed herself off of the wall she was leaning on to walk besides him.
"my grades are slipping somehow," he confessed without thinking.
how would he respond when she asked for the reason why.
"it's been really hard trying to focus when my parents are constantly being overbearing you know" he quickly added, telling a half lie.
